Where the hell is Stanwood?  I thought I have been all over this great state.  Think there is good reason I avoided that place.

I've learned that it's not a good thing to have it this cold.  I'd rather have it this cold in Canada and mild here with intermittent snow storms that melt off.  I look more for the chinook to follow the cold for the best hunting.  That's when the birds that are pushed in really go crazy.

I'll stick to quail and a few ditch jumps until it floods, then it's game on!

I used to have some great duck hunting near stanwood. Out on "the island" in the Skagit River.  Many years ago. Sounds like it's changed, that's to bad.

If that was back in the 80's I know the land around the preserve was owned mainly by the Ovenell's and then the Sipe's owned some and they allowed a fair bit of hunting.  The Detlinger's (sp) also owned much of the valley and allowed a fair bit of hunting down on the dikes and sloughs.  I know after Sipes died that property changed hands.

Not that I hunted any of it I just knew or worked for several of the landowners and was aware of the hunting  ;)

That sort of eliminates everything west of the Pacific crest trail then  :dunno:  ;)
