My 2014 Bull is a 5x5. He's a Roosevelt and came out of SW Washington. Our group of 8 hunters did pretty well this season. All together our camp got a cow (hunter had drawn a permit), 2 5x5’s, and a 6x6. I can’t complain at all about this season. We experienced everything from driving wind and rainstorms to t-shirt days. This bull was put down in a brushy hole as I caught him moving across an opening. He was about 30ft from freedom when I pulled the trigger. He immediately did a 180 and went out of sight. I could tell he was hit hard. Later found to be piled up about 20 yards downhill. The shot went in through the front shoulder taking out the top of the heart and one lung with the bullet found under the hide on the opposite side. A pretty clean kill. He now resides in my freezer.

:tup:great job.... What caliber were you shooting? To me it looks like a .338mag. I have never recovered any bullets from my critters. :dunno:

It's a .300WM. Handloads with the old 180gr barnes X BT. It's my pet load for that gun. Can't get those bullets any more. When I run out of them I'm going to need to figure something else out with a bunch of range work. I started recovering a lot more slugs once I went to these bullets a number of years ago. They tend to hold their mass pretty well and tumble once inside. Animals never have gone very far after taking a body shot from one of these loads.
