Title: Baker lake area grouse
Post by: preacherman on November 16, 2014, 08:36:28 AM
Alright here's the story; I moved to the Skagit area from the Tacoma area several years back, since then I've done well on deer, bear, coyotes, geese, and ducks locally, but there is one thing that I used to get often down there that I haven't even seen up in our area. Grouse, I know they have to be there, but I just can't seem to find any. Am I loosing my mind? I have worked most of the roads and trails up Baker Lake Rd.

You have to get after them early in the year. There was a ton of birds early. They have been getting pressured a lot up here. All of the young dumb birds are already dead.

Get in the thick stuff with a good dog. Areas where bear occur can be good ones since they like a lot of the same foods (berries etc).
