Smallest buck ever taken at Bearpaw!
I think this green score will hold pretty close after the required 60 day drying period. (By the way it's a legal buck, one antler was at least one inch, taken in an any buck area.) :chuckle:
Green Score:
G1- 4/8", circumference 1 4/8
G1- 1 4/8, circumference 1 3/8
Total B&C Green Score - 4 7/8
The hunter had only one day to hunt, he missed a buck this morning then was a little too slow on another buck, but this monster whitetail was destined to be his trophy and stood to the challenge. One shot and he dropped. Even though the antlers are of record proportions this beast of a buck ought to be good eating and we're glad to get him out of the gene pool, so everyone is happy!

I can only hope to down one with that kind of mass and character one day. Once in a lifetime buck right there. All joking aside, congrats to the hunter! Meat in the freezer is better than an un notched tag.
-
worthy of a euro mount for sure
-
This is not to be taken lightly, it was an arduous task for the guide to determine if this was a trophy we dare pull the trigger on! :chuckle:
-
Awesome kill.
These little guys may not score high on points... but... they get the highest score for table fare
-
obviously an old buck that has regressed.
:chuckle:

Did Ray have his new Bino's on the job for this?!!!

30-160x70 bino's?

Daniel was the master guide of this memorable record book hunt!

There are some on here that would call that antler six inches. Just sayin'.
-
You can only score those beasts if you shoot them in the head.
:)
-
I've seen them smaller but they have milk on there lips !
-
I think those are eye guards, so according to most people on here those don't count.

Looks very edible. I'm thinking backstraps, marinated in lots of butter and garlic, some toasted sweet onions and mushrooms, with a big baked spud for desert.
-
Wow!!! My buck just pales in comparison to that stud. Makes sense that Daniel was the guide on that monster. :chuckle:
-
The ticks on that deers head are bigger than the antlers :chuckle: :chuckle: should be Damn fine eatn, all 5 packs of meat ya get off him..lol.. :chuckle:
-
Can't eat antlers. I'd rather have tasty, tender back straps.
-
Nice 2 point.
-
Did you have to quarter him out to get him out of the woods? Makes my back hurt just thinking about it. :chuckle:
-
Would have loved to find the sheds off him.
-
Was that a yearling with good genetics or 1 1/2 year old with bad?
-
You done cleaned out my honey hole, I was saving him for next years hunt, now what am I going to do! :bash:
Congrats to the hunter for some good eats right there!
-
He should be tasty  stuff him and cook him right next to the turkey!!
-

He wasn't a fawn, he was 1 1/2, that's why I was glad to get him out of the gene pool.
-
Yeah that would have been a safe looking 4 1/2 year old
-
You had me there! :chuckle:
-
I took one similar once during late buck, it was revenge exacted on him for my missing of a Monster BT the night before. He still ate good, just didn't last very long. I enjoy the taste of venison too much to not try and fill my tag every year if lucky.

When I was a much younger man(14-16) my buddy and I started what we called the "Baush & Laumb Club"
Anyone can spot a good 4 point at a couple hundred yards. To get in this club you needed some good glass to make sure the trophys had antlers, the smaller they were the higher they ranked.
Below is a pic of our record holder. On the last day of the season it took over an hour to be sure it had an antler that was 1". Turned out that the buck had been shot in the very low leg(was broken badly) so I felt better about putting this one out of it's misery.

What, no inside spread credit. He's at least an 8" buck I'd say.

I thought spread credit couldn't exceed main beam. I think 4 7/8 is money. :chuckle:

Congrats to the hunter.
-
Which lucky Taxi gets the honor of doing the mount on that beast?

Ahhh... the much coveted one by none
Well done!

:rockin: hope you process your own cause that might add up quickly :chuckle:
-
HAHAHAHHAAHAH!
Love the scoring
-
I took one of these gene pool bucks myself and im proud i did it.
The buck had a very unusual rack 3 point on the passenger side that resembled a comb. Would have been a legal three point but took it in a any buck region.
I was actually setup to receive the bearpaw DIY map but it seems dale had troubles with a broken horse leg on a moose hunt and couldn't complete a DIY map for me.
I was left disappointed in that aspect but still happy to harvest a buck for myself.

You can add a few more inches onto that monster's green score and perhaps set the bar so high to never be surpassed. You do get a spread credit that can be no longer than the longest main beam and you actually get 4 circumference measurements on each side equally spaced along the main beam. Hard to gauge.... but looks like...... around a 12" B&C score. Congrats to the hunter!
-
Next thing we'll hear is that he got it with a 1,000 yd shot.
-
I would have shot it, ended up with tag soup. Plus, I need a non-typical for the trophy room.
-
Would have loved to find the sheds off him.
I found a shed just like this - had it on my keychain for years, unfortunately the eyescrew I used stripped out and I lost it. 1 7/8" long, don't remember the mass measurements
-
Nice 2 point.
now that made me laugh
-
Is that Randy Ulmer's 2014 buck?
-
Good buck!! :cue:
