Title: Anyone using Keen work boots?
Post by: jackelope on November 18, 2014, 07:43:24 PM
In need of a new pair of boots for work. I need oil and slip resistant and no steel toe and they need to be black. A lot of the Keens get really great reviews. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with them.
Thanks in advance.
JB

I use them at work.  They don't have what I would consider a good arch so plan to get a good set of insole arch support.
Otherwise, I'm quite happy with them and they hold up pretty well and are pretty comfortable too for the price.

Thanks Dave. I put superfeet in pretty much everything I put on my feet.  That's not an issue.

I bought my first pair last winter for work, we have to wear steel toe boots.  I thought they were pretty comfortable, I have tried many pairs of work boots in my 23 years at the water district and these were probably my most comfortable cheaper boots.  They lasted the longest as well for there price range. I work in dirt and mud most the time, I will buy them again this winter.

I've been wearing Keen work shoes for several years.  Fortunately I can wear the slip-on mesh ones due to the nature of my job.  Great support for what I need and comfortable all day long.

I haven't tried Keen's but when I was wrenching I used these and were the best boots I've had over the years http://www.redbackboots.com/ (http://www.redbackboots.com/) I had the black slip-on's with steel toe but they have regular toe too. I was impressed with the slip-on's as they never "loosened up" and wore out and I usually like to lace up tight so that was a good feature on lasting quality.

I wear Keen hiking shoes as my daily walkers, and they're good.  Although long hours standing I have some foot fatigue.  Not really pain, but I'm sure you know the feeling.

My work boots are Red Wings, and I walk all day in rough ballast.  They do ok.

I love my keen work boots, I used to wear nothing but redwings, I thimk these are more comfortable on standard surfaces, working on uneven loose ground I still prefer loggers with more of a heal.

With as much time as you spend on your feet, I figured you probably would use the superfeet.  So do I.
I know that Whistle Workwear and I'm fairly certain that Work and More has a 30 day no questions asked return policy if you decide you don't like them.

I've been wearing red wings the last couple pairs of boots I've had and they've been ok. I bought a pair of redbacks a few months ago, walked directly to an oil covered floor to test the oil resistance. They stink. A little bit better than roller skates is how I'd describe them. I returned them to the Matco truck almost instantly. Put my old clunker red wings back on and that's where we're at today.

My brother wears nothing but Keens. He says they're the best boot he has ever owned for work.

These are what he wears.

Ive been throigh a few pairs. They have great longevity and oil resistance. They kind of made my feet hurt though. I would deffinitly use insoles or arch supports. I stopped using them though and now i wear running shoes and those slp on steel toes.

I've never had any Keen boots but my whole family has had multiple pairs of Keen shoes and they have been great.  Sometimes their toe design makes them look a little goofy but we've yet to have a pair that disappointed us.  Mine have been very comfy and very durable.

As for work boots, I've worn White's (Rancher, Pacs, and Smokejumpers) for over 25yrs and for me, nothing compares to their comfort.

I am on pair number 2 and buying #3 next month i get a new pair every year. When danner refused to to do anything about my first time work leakers i set them on the counter and walked out, i told them i will never buy another pair. they didn't care.
I switched to keen, first pair i tried was the Portland model, it is made in the USA and come with a decent warranty. They never leaked, but in the environment i work in the soles do not hold up. I work on substation yard rock every day. and it eats boot soles. I still wear them off and on. They do have a bigger toe box than some of the other boot manufacturers.

I also have the milwaukees they have a tougher sole. They are more of a work boot, with a real heel. Both pars i have are very comfortable and have never leaked. For the price you will not find a better work boot in my opinion.
