I can't believe there are people that will take animals that they did not kill. You know some low life is showing pic's of that buck to his buddies and telling some great hunting story about how he killed it :bash:

Lotta crap down there! A guy I know was out hunting with his wife this year in the same unit. They came back to camp to find someone dumped oil and gas on there coolers, tent and gear and set fire to it!  :bash: They were camped on NF.

ID you would be ticketed if you did that

From what I have read on fb with someone closer to the story the guy had packed it all out and was camped near the river had the antlers up in the tree. He went out to try and get an elk and returned to it being gone. Sounds like someone and more than one were invloved being that a sled was used to get in there where he was.

Sorry to hear, I hope someone is able to recognize the deer wherever it ended up, it's a shame how things like this happen.

I don't understand why someone would steal someone's deer. To me having horns or a shoulder mount hanging remind me of the hunt and friends or family involved.  Every time whomever took this buck looks at it they will be reminded of what a scum bag they are.

Hope he finds it. My dad had a dog stolen while he lived on the river. Someone pulled up in a boat while he was at work and stole his black lab.

Send pics to all the taxidermists you can find in that general area. That sucks, I'd be so devastated.

always been a concern packing things out with me... I hate leaving anything at or near my vehicle until I can keep the "honest" people honest....

stud buck , sorry for the loss.... has he provided the pic to all regional taxidermy folks? Save some meat for dna later if found?

You can take the antlers out first in Idaho...doesn't sound like it would matter in this case though...the guy had the whole deer at camp and went out elk hunting?

I'm with Madmax on this one though...I'm not a meat hunter and so I want to make as certain as I can the antlers will not disappear...usually that means taking them out first...sometimes though its safer to leave them for the last trip.  Its sad hunters even have to think about stuff like this.

What a shame. What would you even do with a stolen buck like that? Every taxidermist in the area is going to have an eye out for it. Unless they're in on it  :dunno:

Apparently word got out enough as the buck was returned.  I think I saw where it scored 192.  He got his trophy back, that's the most important thing!

I read on FB that he did  get the rack back. Someone overheard another that the rack was returned to the scene of the crime. According to the info I read, Chuck (the rightful owner) had to go back there and get it. Sounds strange to say the least, but it was on FB so it must be true!
