Got my wife's bear skull out of the ground today.. Time to clean up
-
Just burried it? How long?
-
That's what I do with our deer skulls. I bury them where my compost pile is, cover it up with something heavy to keep the critters out and in about 4-6 months the bugs and worms usually have that skull pretty cleaned up. I take a hose to them and spray out what little nuggets might be left and let it dry. If you don't like the brown stain look I've also have dipped the skull in beach water then let it dry. I know there are much quicker ways to get a skull clean, but it's not a big deal for me to wait 6 months.

Hopefully you can find all the teeth
-
I have a large wooden compost bin, I bet that would work great.
-
used to do it this way, have you seen pressure washer results? no wait.....

I've been fortunate so far, haven't lost a tooth off my skulls yet.

I'm not sure but I don't think teeth will slip till the skull is dry

I do a few every year, coon and bear are the easiest because they have no antlers. That was shot and the second week in September, buried it in the middle of September. Dug it up this week. One tooth fell out ,no big deal. I'll sit in and soapy water for a while , then let it sit in peroxide for a few days. looks a little better than bleach Bleach also breaks down the bones. There's lots of ways of doing it , this is just how I do it
-
That's pretty quick. Thanks for sharing

This coon one I did A few years ago, soaked it in green tea for a few days. Then put a clear coat over it.
-
I like it.
-
It's fun, I put it in a mesh bag before I put it in ground so I don't lose anything.
Hopefully you can find all the teeth
