Looking for a little help. I drew the late muzzle tag and was not able to get out and scout the area before this weekend. I have not been in the unit in about 8 years and was unable to scout until now. My son received a massive concussion in early September playing football and we are still dealing with health issues and that's why I have not be enable to get out. Any help or a starting point would be great help.

There are several gated roads up Rock Creek Rd that run off into the Yale Unit that have good aged clearcuts with lots of elk use. Not much weather yet, the later the better as far as more animals pushed into the lower elevations. Have been hunting that country the last week or so and it's pretty slim pickings right now... wish we had some snow.
Good luck!

Wish I could help you, I work/drive the Yale unit a lot and have yet to see any elk, most years I start seeing them in Sept. and see them all fall/winter. Good luck.

Thank you for all the help. I spent the day looking around. I will post some pics if I get lucky.

Thank you to all that helped me out. I hunted my butt off for the 2 and a half days I had. No shots but had a good time. I'm just thankful for what little time I had and my son is ok. Maybe we will get good news this week and I might get to go out one more time before it's over.

Got back Friday from spending 7 days down in Yale. My daughter and father in law got drawn. Saw 4 elk in the woods and a whole bunch in a private field.
It was such lovely weather. I felt like a new born baby being rocked to sleep as my trailer swayed in the wind.
My daughter has a new found appreciation for early deer on the eastside.
