Any suggestions out there on what people use to give there coats just a hint better of a waterproofing layer? Does scotch guard do much does anyone feel it flares birds? Just want to give my drake coat of 5 years a little extra help it's not leaking bad, I just want to finish this season with it before getting another coat. Any advice helps

I have used Camp Dry in the past. It is kind of like Scotch Guard I guess. It is sold as a waterproofing for tents. I sprayed it on a old Herters parka I have. The parka material in kind of suede-ish on the outside, not smooth like a columbia coat would be. So, I can't really attest to it being shiny. I would say it is not though. It seems to have worked, although I really don't enjoy hunting in rain much and usually pack up and leave if I am in any significant downpour.

Give it a fresh DWR treatment with Nikwax or a similar brand. You can get a wash in or spray on treatment.

I need something as well both my Whitewater shell and my Duck Commander coats both leak like a sieve. I'm going to try the Nikwax next, I hate to replace my gear when it's only 1 1/2 seasons old.

I know I will hear S*&% about this but I still use Thompson deck Water sealer. I soak my jacket and hunting shirts in a five gallon bucket and then hang dry them. They are odor free in about two days good enough for duck hunting.
