So I have an Anterless tag for the January 1st through 15th hunt. How crucial do those who know more than me which is everyone as I am a newbie think it is to be out there on the 1st?
I have a 3hr drive to get there and don't want to be on the road middle of the night with New Years Eve crazies on the road...
Thoughts advice on the area all appreciated.
Cheers

it doesn't matter when you come the elk aren't here like years past but if it gets real real cold and snow the ones that are left will feed heavy.

My brother in-law gets that rifle tag almost every year. He gets a cow every time. But he also has a hunting rifle that can easily shoot past 1000 yards lol. Got his cow last year at like 1437 i think.

I had that tag a few years ago. Get a hold of the local wildlife biologist. He can give you some land owner names and numbers who would let you hunt their land.
