having trouble trying to find the right tone to make the feeder call any help would be vary helpful .i've been useing the hand held shaker feeder and want to learn with the regular call

The biggest thing you'll have to grasp is how to stop your air by forcing your tongue to the roof of your mouth and behind your teeth. It's hard to explain but a good calling cd or dvd could help explain better. I say ticka-ticka or duga-duga or some variation on that. Hope that helps. It's easier show then to type.

I had a heck of a time trying to learn how to do it myself. It took me about two years of constant trying. Yes, I thought I was retarded.
I just figured it out three days ago with help from this website http://www.gundogsonline.com/Article/Duck-Calling-Feeding-Chuckle-Page1.htm
Pay attention to the last audio file (on page 1), because it is done very slowly. The trick is to mimick the sound in the last audio file.
All of the sudden, it will just click.

Although the feeder call sounds great it's not the most productive for ducks.... Reality is when they're out 70-200 yards they really can't hear the feeder call....

Ducks on the water don't do a feed call...just in the air..the tucka tucka tucka call is done by birds going to feed....on the water, ducks chatter.....leave the (a) off..tuck tuck dug dug tick tick goo goo ga ga pick the word or use them all...it will sound like real ducks on the water....

i find that it dose not matter what kind of feed call you are using they all work great to bring the ducks in the last 50-75 yards especially if you are hunting on public land and everyone else is using the typical "hack..hack..hack..hack.hackhackhack" ducks respond to something they have not been shot at for responding to earler in the day/season, find what works best for you and go with it

i found towards the end of my season last year, nothing worked quite as well as a good crisp QUACK. The feeder call worked really well before thanksgiving, but when everyone gets that extra day off all the popular spots are trashed other than fresh birds that werent there.
