How’s the sheet water? Frozen solid or can it be broken up?
-
Its mostly frozen solid. if its a foot deep or more you MAY be able to get some open water for a while. Any sheet water less than 8 inches thick is pretty much ice and mud.
-
A lot of ice. Best to hit the salt. The birds pushed out to the salt for the most part, except for a few locations where they are concentrated.
-
I hit Welts today, all the sheet water is frozen. You could probably break through a few places if you really wanted too but I agree with try the salt...
-
depends where in Skagit you talking about?
-
It was slow for me yesterday. Hunted hour and a half and only shot 4 going into close. Didn't see to much in my area. A few good sized groups in an adjacent area which I will target this evening.
-
Still a lot of ice around.
-
And then there were lots of birds. Were in them thick today. Lots of birds back in the area.
-
I plan to hunt Skagit very soon!

I drove around sat morning at first light till 11. I was not seeing much, from the bay to all around most qh spots down to for island and down to Stanwood. Saw a few groups on private land but not much flying and it was windy and rainy. Pretty good conditions. Did a lot of birds move south??

saw a bunch up in Oak Harbor... but not a lot of good quality

Was out hunting this morning. There are some birds around. Just not a ton of them.
