So here it is my first archery cow elk harvest at 47yds it was pretty cool experience. I hunted my multi season elk tag hard this year!! I thought for sure I was eating tag soup this year. The cool thing was I stuck her 1/4 mile from my rig and she walked towards my rig and died 15yds from it. Talk about sweet ;) oh and check out the hoof rot pic this was GMU 530

Well done, you have some nice tasting tenderloins for Xmas now ;)
-
Nice!

Congrats on the elk. How did that hoof smell?
-
Not real noticeable
-
Congratulations!

Good for you to stick with it all season. Just curious if you noticed that the cow may have had the hoof rot before you shot? That looks nasty and I would probably be hobbling around on three legs if that were me.

Good hunting! Bacon wrapped elk loin for x-mass dinner!!!!!

Congrats! I'd say you did her a favor. That hoof looks gnarly!

Congrats on the first one! I agree, looks like you did her a favor the way those hooves look.

Good job
Nice to see late season archery guys filling tags

Can anyone tell me why hoof rot only effects elk and not deer ?
-
Dang! Nice job. I can't help but feel sorry for those elk.

Man I'm not eating no hoof rot elk. I don't care if they say it's safe. Never know...
