Title: More anti-gun hate...you just can't make this stuff up.
Post by: netcoyote on December 08, 2014, 10:34:35 AM
There are so many things wrong here, I just don't know where to start. I don't know if this is just more liberal propaganda from the media or there really are some people who think that people volunteering for the cops to search homes is a good thing. Wonder how well this would go over in Fergusen, MO

Beloit Police Ask Residents To Volunteer To Have Their Homes Searched For Guns

Chief Of Police Says He Hopes Initiative Can Help Residents Begin Thinking Differently About Guns
Friday, December 5, 2014, 8:45pm
By Gilman Halsted

Police in Beloit are launching a new effort to reduce gun violence in which they're asking city residents to volunteer to have police search their homes for guns.

Police Chief Norm Jacobs said he doesn't expect the phone to be ringing off the hook with requests for police to search their homes. He nevertheless hopes the program will encourage people to think about gun violence as an infectious disease like Ebola, and a home inspection like a vaccine to help build up the city's immune system.

"Gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus is being represented in the media, and we should fight it using the tools that we've learned from our health providers,” he said.

Jacobs said he hopes some searches will result in the discovery of guns they didn't know were in their own homes. He said that there’s also a chance they’ll find guns linked to crimes.

“That's really what we're looking for,” he said. “Maybe we'll find a toy gun that's been altered by a youngster in the house — and we know the tragedies that can occur there on occasion.”

There have been seven gun homicides in Beloit this year. Four of the victims were teenagers or young men in their 20s — like Melisha Holloway's 20-year-old son Raymond, who was killed in April. Holloway said too many young men have given up on school.

“Pretty much all those kids and young men just need to be is educated,” said Holloway. “You have a lot of them that barely read at a fifth-grade level yet they're 25 year-old-men. But they know how to work a gun. There's something wrong with that picture."

This week, 20-year-old Jajuan Logan was sentenced to 12 years in prison for Holloway's murder.

I wonder how many anti-gunners are calling on their neighbors, just giving an address and a yes.
How would this go over if it applied to illegal aliens?

People are certainly stupid if they think this is a good idea. I personally can't imagine asking a member of LE to search my home for any reason at any time.

Hoping they'll find guns people didn't realize they had in their own homes??!!  Did I actually read that right?  That would indicate that the police plan to do more than just come in and visually inspect guns that the homeowner provides for viewing.  That would entail a top to bottom search of the entire building, possibly using dogs?  CRAZY!!

If your stupid enough to to invite an inspection into your home you get what you deserve!

Chief needs to volunteer to have his head examined.

Actually, the chief must be pretty smart. If he can get access to people's homes, he can make some busts on unrelated charges and is able to make a security assessment of the people in his town. You can't blame a guy for trying.

The Chief had he been in Germany during a not to long ago era,  would have "fit" very well into a group later to know as the SS.

History does repeat itself :yike:

The SS didn't ask. I'm not thrilled about this request; don't get me wrong. However, I'd be less thrilled with someone stupid enough to agree with it.

You never know when your kid may have turned a nerf gun into an AK-47:

1984 isn't an instruction manual.

I can't imagine anyone who would even consider having their home voluntarily ransacked.

Yeah you can.  I would prefer my police chief to be chasing bad guys as opposed to suckering and harassing innocent citizens.  A cop that has this much disregard for his constituents should be sent packing.  This is feel good nonsense to hide the fact that they are not effectively policing.

Yeah, if we held Reading Rainbow every afternoon our gang problem would dissolve.  Sounds reasonable to me.

the good ole USA must be the laughing stock of the world... it still baffles me how all these antis still dont realize that guns were the reason they have the freedoms they have .... and yes i know times have changed, but they havent changed enough to have the police come inspect your home.. who ever volunteers for this, gets exactly what they have coming  :chuckle:

I agree. I'd never volunteer. But as far as the rest of the world is concerned, a large part of it already does stuff like this. Our Constitution is pretty unique.

I see this as part of a larger strategy. Even if the perpetrators of this foolish idea realized that it would be perceived as stupid by some, they will have planted the seed of the notion that "guns" are indeed part of the problem and police should be empowered to confiscate them whatever the cost of civil liberty. The anti-guns are keeping the pressure on and slowly creating the larger narrative that guns are just generally something to be feared and restricted. It's all about marketing the idea.

Unless those of us who cherish our 2nd Amendment take enough countermeasures to combat this war of ideas, we will slowly loose, not only our gun rights, but a whole lot of freedom along with it.

:yeah:  It will desensitize people to these kinds of police tactics.  The ones volunteering probably vote and would be in Moms Demand Action type groups.  Then they would force it on others in some way.

I like how he compares guns to Ebola  :dunno: Remember Ebola is nothing to worry about ...just killed a few thousand people ! What scares me is what if someone turned in there neighbor for having guns ? Would a judge issue a warrant on suspicion ? I can not understand any of this crap . They know how many Americans own guns and do they intend to search billions of homes  :dunno: THIS IS THE START OF WHAT WE USED TO THINK AS IMPOSSIBLE  :dunno: >:(
