Will damage occurr if the charge remains in the barrel for too long?

If the bore was clean and in unfired condition when it was loaded, I don't believe there would be any damage done. I know I left a Renegade loaded for an entire year, and I then loaned it to my cousin, who took it elk hunting. He put a cap on the nipple and went hunting, killed a big cow the first morning!

what bobcat said, plus the fact of weather conditions and if you keep the bore covered along with the nipple plugged while not in use.
