Saw this on Facebook today and was wondering if anyone had more info on this.
-
hopefully he passed on those genes to many cows this september
-
My thoughts exactly!!
-
Don't know anything about it, but that is a whopper! Thanx for sharing!
-
If that was roadkill and he "harvested" the antlers, I'd probably suggest taking the pic off facebook.
Nice bull by the way
-
:yeah: I almost hit one the other day heading to photograph. Pucker moment both for the almost collision and for the size of the bull.
-
Wow, what a shame. I bet he was awesome to see on the hoof.
-
:yike: :yike: :yike: I've seen similar bulls with an extra point sticking out both sides like that in a particular area not far. Hope it wasn't one of the ones I've watched and he just got a lot bigger. :'( :'( :'( any particular reason this is in the off topics and not elk or virtual threads? :dunno: just curious not starting anything.
-
That's amazing that the rack wasn't busted up....
-
Hes a little bigger than "Trooper" was

Happy now? :chuckle:

I wish we could see a pic of the car that hit him. :yike:

He probably did that for several years.
-
Cool, I hope they display that somewhere for everyone to see!
Wonder what that thing scores. Fronts are good, thirds and fourths are in the 20" range, long and wide, good mass...has to be over 400", but by how much?

I am no expert on scoring elk but I am REALLY not an expert when it comes to big freaks like that. I can guess up to about 330" and then it all looks the same to me :chuckle: huge bull though, I don't see how it couldn't be 420" :dunno:

I had him at about 380 last year when I saw him. Not sure if it is the pic but he looks like his stickers are a little longer but he lost a little mass. :dunno:

yeah good call on the mass being average, still though if he's ~380 then those fronts must be underwhelming compared to how they look...I'd like to see a view of the back. I love the crowns.

What car? It blew up into smithereens and scattered all over *poof* :yike:
Sad a bull like that is gone, but I also hope the people are okay.
-
That's amazing that the rack wasn't busted up....
Then to think that they DO break when they fight :yike:
Elk are strong critters you could say.
-
We need a side view... definitely over 400... and not by just a little... DAMN.
-
That's a real nice bull elk!
-
I have a feeling I underestimated him last year, though I don't think he was as long.

That's what I was thinking, Coach is a slacker. :chuckle:
-
On second thought, maybe Coach is the one that hit him with his car.....
-

Probably did, mad because he didn't wait longer on his road hunt and seen this guy and decided to run him over. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Wow, what a bull. That is a damn shame how it died, but at least it wasn't poached. What a pig!
-
Anybody with conformation that this actually is a true story? :dunno: Was this bull actually recently hit on Blewett ?
-
What kind of boat is hanging up behind him in the picture?

Tagging, don't know of any big bulls being hit lately.
-
there's about a twenty acre field of alfalfa in front of a house on many acres, they just feed the elk to watch them. my good buddy has property bordering this private land and we would go check out the field each year during the rut, there are many bulls like that in that area and bigger. all safe on private land. fun to watch a bull like that get chased off by bigger. to bad it got hit but his genes are lived on guaranteed
-
big un that's for sure or was :'(
-
there are many bulls like that in that area and bigger
I am not an antagonist... and dont mean to start anything... but there aren't "many" bulls like that and even way way way fewer that are bigger.

I guess that depends where you look? ;)

Nope... (let the pissing match begin!!)
Lol... just kiddin. We can agree to disagree!! :hello:
-
Im gonna try and get some more info... I have a couple buddies that have access to that garage. If its in there, I might be able to get them to get a tape on it.
-
Yes I have seen bigger, standing next to him as a matter of fact, but for the record, 400 inch bulls don't grow on trees so I think its safe to say there aren't very many of them. I would love to see the tale of the tape on this guy. He reminds me of genetics out of NM. Length means everything with the scorebook and he certainly has it.
-
to clarify there were two bigger bulls in the field with him one of witch had the same genes and one was a typical 10by. I guess with that caliber of bull two more were many to me sorry. but that is just one little field. guess they are there all the time. you no the field I speak of I take it hornseeker. when I got to the edge of the field I thought I died on the way to it and some how made it to heaven
-
Would love to see pics of that bull from last year if you have them, Bone. Would also love to see pics of the field Bulls, Scout. In case you couldn't tell, we like pics. :)
-
That thing is a monster and if there are/were two others that are bigger, ppppplease get some pics posted of those bad boys!!!
-
:yike: :yeah:
-
I do not have pics, I did just text my buddy to send me some though. he has a shed from the 10 by year before I saw him. so I no I can get a pic of that.
-
A typical 10x? That's awesome, hoping we get to see pics.
-
Typ 10X!!!! HOLY CRAP...
No offence meant at all Scout... you know what you are saying... and like Bone said, I dont care if you are in the White Mountains of AZ or anywhere else... there just aren't many 400+ bulls...
-
no worries man, my buddy is in Montana now visiting his dad but I will get pics from him. just havn't heard from him yet
-
Cant say Ive ever seen, even a pic, of a typ 10X... 8 for sure... not even remembering a 9!
Cant wait...
-
If it's the bull I think you're referring to, I'd be hard pressed to call him a "typical" 10x.
Is he still alive?
-
he was as of the end of september
-
I'll add some credibility to bones comments. I've seen a bachelor herd that I've been following for a year now and 2 big boys share the same characteristics and could possibly be sons in the same general area. The area has monsters, they're just hiding in small areas and those that know where they're at don't share so they can enjoy them and watch them grow.
-

OK then we're not talking about the same bull.
Thanks.
-
pm sent hornseeker
-
cool stuff
-
I don't think I have ever seen a typical 9. Tagging along now
-
The bull in the pic was a dead head found off peel point a couple years ago !!! It's not a road kill !!! Your off the hook coach for letting on slip by :)

That's why I asked the question I did. Seems I've seen this bull before. :dunno:
-
I thought it was funny he lost the mass he did, but he is a dead ringer to one on the hoof. That makes me happy he is still out there if this is the case.
-
This is the bull that was found by a friend of mine about 5 years ago now, it was killed by another bull, game dept. took possession of it, not the same one.
-
That is the bull I was think of then.
-
Nice, is that from the blewett area? That area definitely has the same characteristics and it just proves that 1 bull can sure spread his genes.
-

I remember this bull
-
Same Genes...thats for dang sure!!
-
Re the references in this thread to a 10 x 10 typical, I'm pretty sure B&C only recognize typical elk up to an 8 x 8. Any points on a beam after that are deemed non-typical points.
-
What I'm sure people are referring to is a 10x10 that has a typical frame with points in typical fashion off the mainbeam. I doubt any was referring to the way B&C officially scores an elk. :twocents:
-
Bull was from South I-90 unit public land bull found during muzzleloader season number years ago. Contacted WDFW to report after finding it. WDFW officers responded and performed autopsy and located deep infection from puncture wound to belly. Side note the bulls rack was covered with dried blood. His ivories were wore down to small nubs barely visible in the gum line.
-
Are you referring to the bull in the pic danderson posted, Trooper?
-
Yes, both posted pictures are of the same bull. Initially wrote a request letter to WDFW to donate rack to our local RMEF chapter. WDFW instead donated set from Oak Creek. I hope someday they are sold and funds utilized to benefit elk herds in WA and all of us who pursue them. Pictures do not do this bull justice definitely the wow factor when you walk up on him especially here in WA.

Dandy bull ...You sure would think he would not lose any battles but I bet the other bull was smaller and younger and more aggressive
