This joker showed up recently, only he shows up at night. :bash: Just curious as to what he might be in inches. :dunno: Some of you that are good at field judging, can you help out?
I've never been that good at field judging, so let me know what information I can provide to help, or let me know how you came up with the score to help me become better.
thanks

I sort of see 25 max for points, 22 for main beams, 16 for mass, and 17is.......so maybe 142ish gross. Or less, not more......Nice buck
-
140s
-
I'm usually a little low on Bulls, right on with Muledeer and a little high with Whitetail. With that said I would guess low 130's
-
The 1st # that I came up with was 145"
:dunno:
-
I don't see anything above 135."
-
I was thinking 135-140
-
I see he is right at the tips of his ears wide. Short G1's. Not much in his G2's. 3's are nice but the crab claw 4's are short. He has nice length on his main beams.
How are you determining the girth at each point on the antler?
-
I see average mass for his frame........16 is av., 17-18 is good, 19+ is awsome, over 20 being great stuff.
-
130s
-
I am thinking low 140's gross..
-
130's
-
139 3/8
-
Good beams and 3rds get him close to 140, but I think he falls just short.
-
He will be over 140! 4 scorable points on each side plus main beams gives him a good score 146!

:yeah:
-
Almost shot this exact deer this year
130-140
-
I think he'll be just shy of 140 as mentioned previously. Good beams and tall, but lacking tine length on his brows and g4's.
-
I'm going with big enough :archery_smiley: :archery_smiley:
-
:yeah: I was going to say they are a lot easier to score after you shoot them! I'd agree with the majority here.
-
I have a 145" eight point whitetail at my parents and I have had my hands on many 150+ whitetail deer, based on his ears and body size. I would put him at 4 1/2 yrs old and close to 147". I give him 65" per side + 17" spread relative to his ears.
-
Thank you all for the education! I would agree that he would be much easier to score with antler in hand... may be next year!
-
He will be a nice one next year. Hope he makes it.
-
Pretty good night time illumination on that cam there, never seen the results of those cabelas cameras. What kind of a detection range you getting out of them?

A 65" whitey shed is a hell of a shed. Nothing negative towards the poster of this topic, but that isn't a 65" shed on the side of his head. :twocents:

For comparison to some who think it's in the upper 140's. I harvested this buck last year. He's 152 0/8" gross, and 144 6/8" net. His g2's are 10 6/8" and 10 0/8", and g3's are 10 4/8" and 9 0/8", and brows are 7 2/8" and 5 5/8". Probably a tad more mass too, but not enough o make a difference.
The buck pictured is a great deer, but just in the brows he's probably 7-8" smaller combined, then his g2's and g3's are probably another 8" combined smaller, maybe more. Add that together that's 15-16". Deduct that from mine which is 152, that's 136-137" gross.

Yeep, mid 130's
-
Mid 130's was my instant impression. A 130 class white tail is a great buck in my opinion, good luck on killing him!
I don't know, he seems too tall to not break 140
-
This buck is over 21" inside spread. Taking him to Spokane the 22th of Dec. to have him scored and entered into the P&Y book. I have never scored one before, I gave this one a try. I think he is in the 140's, a friend just looked at and said 170's. I don't think he's that big. But my best buck.
-
Not sure about the score but that is a very nice buck.
-
Any other angles PA? That's a dandy, congrats!
-
Yeep, mid 130's
:yeah: my guess as well 136
-
I agree with the 130-140 range.

Pfft trophy hunters

Pfft trophy hunters
Not a trophy hunter, I'm a meat hunter and just curious. My bet is if he stepped out in front of you, the hammer would drop just the same.
-
Not to pick on Savage.06Shot but it's funny how my friends who say that kind of stuff about 'trophy hunters' are the ones who crap their pants when somebody shoots a nice buck :chuckle:

I just entered him in the P&Y book today. He scored 134 1/8
