Title: Hearts pass question
Post by: Alchase on September 11, 2007, 11:48:29 AM
I was curious if any one knew if the valley below hearts pass is accessable? At the top of Hearts Pass you look out over a prestine valley that there does not seem to b any road access into. Every time I get up there all the hunters are looking up hill. I would love to get down into that valley. there has to be some huge bucks down there. Could be the Benson creek area or a fork of Trout Creek?

Alchase, Is this the valley you are talking about? You ever find a way in?  :dunno:

The yurt is at Windy Pass off the PCT, in Whatcom County and the Mount Baker NF.   It is above the townsite of Baron and outside of the Pasayten wilderness.   It think their USFS use permit only allows use during the winter ski season, but it may be on private property.    It is accessable by road in summer.

It's even more difficult for Al to access it now from Oklahoma.

A blast from the past !!
Yep, Trout Creek.
I was able to get in there, there was a lot of orange in there. It was that year that started out with a burn ban and rained the whole two weeks of the general.
I was totally soaked. Never seen the general rain that much in the Methow. There were bucks in there. I did not hookup though.
I saw one buck at first glance looked like a huge typical 4x4 from the side, then he stepped in front of a tree with tons of weeping branches. He went from a spike to a 10x12, depending how he moved his head with the tree behind him. LOL
Then he heard two hunters a ways off talking really loud and busted out. That is when I confirmed he was a beautiful typical 4x4, as he ran over the hill.
That was the day I ran into the four hikers doing the PCT in Mazama.
I could have saved them $90 each on a free ride up to Hearts Pass, instead they showed their hate of hunters.
Karma is a ......
LOL

He is closer to the biggest buck that I know of this year anyway.

I am all ears!!!
