Title: Bonaparte ice thickness???
Post by: Doublelunger on December 23, 2014, 05:23:37 PM
Back home for the week and hoping to do some ice fishing.   My old man has got some mixed reports. .. does anyone know how thick the ice is?

I would say the ice is almost nil. It hasn't been cold enough to freeze anything. Curlew Lake isn't frozen, except maybe around the edges.

I haven't been there personally, but drove over 20 twice in the last week and will say campmeat is right. Not much ice if any, and I personally wouldn't risk it even if there were ice with this warm winter we've had. :twocents:

Well I have my doubts too, but it stays a lot cooler in that canyon. I think we're going to go check it out and drill some test holes.  I'll post an update tomorrow afternoon.

I don't think you'll be able to drill any holes. It's been in the upper 30's and the snow isn't even here hardly. Good luck if I'm wrong.
