Title: Muzzle brake ID?
Post by: jackelope on January 12, 2015, 02:05:58 PM
Anyone know who the manufacturer of this brake might be? It was on my rifle when I bought it 2nd hand. I replaced it with a Defensive Edge brake. It's a .30 cal hole for reference.

It looks identical to some BOSS brakes I've seen on Winchester and Browning rifles.

My first thought is shrewd also. But i think there are lots of similar radial brakes around. Not too sure.

Pretty sure palazzo brakes have holes on the crown.

Josh, you might be thinking about Vais brakes with holes in crown

Looks like your basic Magna-Port mizzle brake. Which has been copied by many since.

That design has been copied by a lot of gun smiths.

This one was built and installed by Dave down at Harbor Guns by Aberdeen.

+1 on the KDF style, anyone with a bridgeport and manual/semi-automatic indexer can pound those out. They work great but are hell on the ears and blow crap everywhere when prone.

It could be anyone's brake, it's been knocked off by every clown on E-Bay and every guy with a milling machine in his shop for a loooong time and peddled by every corner gun shop.
