Title: Caught a domestic dog on a foot hold and drag setup

The yellow bungee was on the gate to hold it open when packing groceries in, she somehow got that off and when chewing on the hard plastic ends got that around her foot then proceeded to run around all in a panic until she snagged the plant holder rod thingie, then drug that for a ways squeeling. I ran out to find this.

Had to share :chuckle:

That's a nice looking coat, Rug, full mount or what? :chuckle:

I dunno, that little bit of roan in her driving down the value some. Also not very prime, spends too much time indoors :chuckle:

There isn't too many photos ON this forum that animals right freekos would like :dunno: It's KF's own dog that got itself in trouble in it's own yard, ha ha, what's the big deal?

Even though this was her own doing it's actually a good thing if done in a controlled way. This is a hunting dog and if she gets tangled up in old barb wire, illegal snare or trap or whatever I want her to wait for me not struggle. I'll untangle her better than she can struggle her way free. Less injury if she learns to wait for me.

Lighten up Francis. The dog was neither hurt, in distress, or in harms way. If anything it looked pretty embarrassed!

Personally.... I prefer body gripping traps with bigger/heavier drag objects when I go after domestic dogs....

I would agree with that. We had a beagle growing up and he would chase rabbits till the sun went down long after we had enough. We would always here him though baying (sp?) away. One day he just stopped a we couldn't here him. We went searching up and down trails and roads in our snowmobiles stopping every 100 yards shutting down and calling him. We heard him on one stop just whimpering very softly. Found him caught in a wolf snare. He wasn't struggling but he was lucky we went looking for him because he was off the road 50 yards in and couldn't be seen from the road. We had to cut him out. Lesson learned for sure for him too. Oh almost forgot to say this was 30 some odd years ago and in Minnesota.

Thats one arobatic beagle or someone really messed up there snare :chuckle:

The key to catching domestic animals appears to be the bungee cord. Use it to keep a gate or a kennel door open and it seems the animals are just attracted to it and it will catch them every time. :chuckle:

Maybe the pup liked dragging the trap around. :chuckle: dogs do have a way of getting completely tangled in bungies or ropes. One of my shorthairs is still leary of extension cords after a run in with a vicious attack cord tying all his legs up! :chuckle:

All the sudden the dog takes off, the tackle box is OPEN and it's spilling everything and the dog has his tail tucked tight and the guy is chasing him. I could not stop laughing for quite a while. He was over there picking up lures and sinkers and hooks forever!!

When we were within a mile of the village, we occasionally caught a loose sled dog. They always sat and waited for us to release them. My friend Hazel always knew whose dog it was and would tell them to keep it tied up. She kept sled dogs, too, but they never left her yard because when they got loose they went to her door and she always fed them a treat before re-tieing them. She said late one night one scratched at the door. She had no treat to give it, so she popped corn at 3:00 am for the dog. Sled dogs are used to being tied and don't fight the snares.
