Just wanted to give everyone an update on what is happening with the spring bear season change proposal.
Here are links to the other threads to help keep things easy to find, refer to, and get everyone up to date:

I sent out copies of my proposal to the legislature in yesterday's mail. I send a copy each to Senator Tim Sheldon and Representatives Dan Griffey & Drew MacEwen. They should have their packets in today or Monday's mail at the latest.
Now is the time to start lobbing them for action on this. Below are links for contact info to help make things a little easier.
WA Senators:

WA Representatives:

Click on each one's "Home Page" located below their photograph, and you will find contact info.
Based on my prior conversations with Donny Martorello, WDFW Carnivore Manager and Dr. Georg Ziegltrum, Washington Forest Protection Assocation, Animal Damage Control Supervisor, we have their support, now we need to push it forward with the lawmakers, which is the last step in this process.
Now is time to rally legislative support by contacting Senator Tim Sheldon and Representatives Dan Griffey & Drew MacEwen and ask for their support and sponsorship of the proposal for legislative action. Then contact your local area Representatives and ask for their support as well. A few minutes to make some calls, send some emails could mean all the difference! Lets not let this chance slip away...
Like I have said in the past, with 15,000-some members, we can carry a big voice!! Phone calls, letters, emails, let them know we want this change. Also, if you have friends & family that are not HuntWa members, see if they will join in as well.
Okay ladies and gentlemen, I have done what I can, now I am asking you to step up and help carry this through!!!

Thanks for your hard work. Great job  hope w get enough support and you get to see the fruits of your labor
-
Thank you, I appreciate it!! Now it is "all-in" and we hurry-up and wait to see what the powers to be have to say.
What is ironic is, I have never applied for a spring permit, so if they were to say it was good to go tomorrow, it would probably be years before I had enough points to even take advantage of it!!

so ............. and sorry just skimmin all that text :o but am I to assume they are maybe considering a permit to allow for at least spring bear baiting?
If so what abou fall general and why not?
-
Yes, a bill to add baiting for spring only because that season is for damage control.
-
The number is HB 1838, introduced by Rep. Drew MacEwen.

Now is the time to start calling, emailing, writing your local Representatives and Senators and ask them to vote in favor of HB 1838.

Rep MacEwen's office just informed me the public hearing is set for Feb 10th @ 10:00, House Hearing Rm B, John L O'Brian building.
As many able to stop in, it sucks it is during the day, but it is when it is, that would be willing and able to show support would be great.
Hope to see some of you there, and if you haven't already, contact your local area lawmakers and ask for theirvsupport. We are close, let's see if we can finish it off!
Thanks all, Dennis ""Blacktail Sniper."
