Has anyone put in for a Oregon control hunt? The area I'm looking at has about 50% draw odds but it says only 5% of the tags go to non residents, so I imagine my odd wouldn't be that great. Any thoughts?

In Oregon it's easy to know how many points it will take to draw a hunt. How many points do you have?
Some tags your odds are the same as a resident, and others require more points for non-residents because of the 5% limit.

Well, I've lived in Washington 25 years, 35 years in Oregon. In the last 25 years I draw deer every other year and an elk tag all but one year, so the non resident system can be worked. Whether or not depends on what you're looking for, if you want to double or triple your odds of killing a spike bull compared to Washington, it's a good bet. If you're looking for a big bull you're going to invest some time. I spent 18 years finally drawing a trophy bull tag. I think it's worth it but part of my motivation is hunting with my brothers.

I don't have any points, but looking at the chart makes me like my odds. Thanks Bobcat

You must be looking at the charts wrong.

I meant I like my odds for next year. the way I read it is 1 point = 100% for non residents. Unless I'm reading it wrong :dunno:
