My buddy has a non-typical whitetail he was thinking about taking to the show but if he took them could he bring them back home the same day or they have to stay there he did;nt want to go back up again to get them. Also to have any chance to win something what kind of score would he have to have for his horns I told him probley around 170 but really I don't have any idea so if someone knows holler.
-
You don't have to leave them.
-
I think back in 2011 I checked in at the booth about having some Blacktail Sheds scored at the show. They said you needed to leave them there until they could get to them to score them. They said at least 2-3 hours. Once they were scored you could come pick them up.
-
I asked this on another thread, but do you know if you can have a buddy drop a set of antlers off for you, then pick them up yourself on sunday?
-
You can drop them off and have them scored to be picked up the same day. If he thinks he's got a chance to win a prize it might be worth going back up the next day for it. I went back and got a rifle.
-
My buddy is going saturday. I was going to have him drop off my deer antlers, then we both were planning on going sunday. What did you enter to win a rifle?
-
I believe in order to win a prize, don't you have to enter them and win or place in all the shows? Portland, Yakima ect?
-
I think you're right about that for the "big" prizes.
-
To make it worth taking them anyone know what kind of a score a non-typical whitetail would need to be in the running. Just ballpark figure.
-
I think they charge $30 to score them now also.
-
in 2011 I brought my archery muley, it took two hours to score them, I left the show and found out later I won 1st place in the archery catagory and won a prize but I didnt want to go all the way back to claim my prize so I lost out.

You have to leave them to win, my buddie left his today with a pickup on Sunday no earlier than 2pm.
Washinton State Record Books who scores them I believe.
-
I took mine yesterday. But left it till Sunday its number 1 In the the 3 point blacktail category . Plus it lets me in free . So I can BS with some of the guides I know
-
Just go and check it out, you might find a decent fishing guide out of Westport over there :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Thanks Pete I will be following you next year.Had funat the show but even more impressed with Bass pro shop even got bricks of 22 shells.
-
It's been a couple of years since I have had a set in the show. Used to be scoring was free and you could pick up a couple hours later. If you wanted in the competition you had to pay $25 bucks and had to wait until Sunday to pick up your rack and get your prize. I think if you entered the competition and had a score high enough for the record book your entry fee also covered your entry fee into the record book. Almost all heads that came in 1st-3rd scored high enough for the record book. Prizes were ribbons and a knife for 1st place in your category. The bigger prizes like rifles and binocs were for closest to the #1 in the record books for that category by percentage. Those are tough to win and most of them went to guys with special permits for elk, sheep or goats.
That's how I remember it anyways.

117 6/8 gross net114 1/8 plus big I gards.

Thanks I'm getting closer to my B C
-
I was just down there. Website says measured for free, not true. It cost $10 to have mine measured and if you wanted to enter them in the competition it was $25, $10 to measure and $15 to enter. Seemed odd to me because all the scorers that I have gone to before didn't charge, conflict of interest getting paid to measure but whatever.
-
How did yours score?
-
Mine is on the left it scored 127" my buddies on the right scored 155", both archery deer.
-
Rainier, your buck looks awesome! Crazy mass! Short forks but, who cares about score?! (not me)

Good God man! what a buck, congrats to the hunter. I've been looking for a buck like that and put hundreds if not thousands of miles on my feet trying. Really nice deer!
