Title: Browned my barrel
Post by: MountainDevil54 on January 25, 2015, 03:37:33 PM
My .58cal Hawken always had a blued ( cold blue) barrel on it but I got tired of it wearing off as I shoot it a lot.

I used Laurel Mountain Forge browning solution and over 4 days,  got this in the end.  :IBCOOL:

Looks great!!  I've used Birchwood Casey's Plum Brown on several MLs, heat it with a torch and slather it on.  A couple of coats and its done in an afternoon.  It turns out really nice.  I like the classic brown look much better than blue on traditional style MLs

Brown always looks better than blue on the old style guns.  Good idea.
