Title: Cutts and Kokanees
Post by: cohoho on January 26, 2015, 06:04:36 PM
How many hard core Cutts and Kokanee fisher folks are on this site?

With all the fishing I do, I have never ever fished for Cutthroats or Kokanee and feel like getting into it.  Sort of a start to a new winter habit and get my aging neighbor out for easier trips than blasting him through waves and surf in the in the salt (He is 77).... Anyone willing to show and tell some spots on the Westside - with ramp access to drop my boat in the water.

Will take you out for Salmon, Sturgeon or salt water activities in trade..  Out of the numerous rods and reels I have, do not have any light weight set ups...  Time to head to Sportco...  Recommendations on gear, lures and techniques would be much appreciated.

Drop me a PM....

Look up my or mallards recent post history. We had a thread that I linked last year pretty recently. He gives some great tips. Also, you could bring him up this way, John with Rotten Chum does half say trips. John is hard core as the come whether it be a tasty little koke or hawg king.

American Lake has a good fishery! I believe though it is better fishing late Spring.

How did you fish Riffe?  How big are the fish and what's the limit?  A buddy and I are looking for somewhere to take his boat that we could take kids.

I got hooked on koks two years ago and only got in on the tail end of the season.  But LOVED it.  I see you are in Black Diamond.  The lake I started on was Lake Meridian, not far from you.  Then this past year I fished Meridian and American lake.  Two years ago Meridian was insane, just starting off I know I didn't have it dialed yet but we never left that lake with out limits and pretty easy.  This past year was harder on Meridian but the fish were a bit bigger.  This past year was my first time ever fishing American.  We limited a few times and came up short a few times to but the koks on American where pigs this year.  From my research on koks they go in cycles on the lake.  Some years LOTS of fish but on the smaller side, some years less number but bigger fish, so on and so forth.  So no telling what Meridian and American will be like next year.  But I will be out there on both finding out.  PM if you want to talk more.  You will LOVE kok fishing.

Well Loon on this side of the mountians is a premier Kokanee lake with a generous catch limit of 10.  Every year they knock them over nite fishing them.
