Post by: klickriverchromer on December 26, 2008, 09:23:01 PM
Here's a couple of the same bull.  First one is last yr. and something is wrong with my memory card so the pic may or may not work.  Second & third  pic is this yr.

Why put in for the BLues when the Cascades have bulls like that??? Looks to me like people should be putting in for those units instead. Lets post these pics in June to remind people of these big bulls and maybe sway the draw odds a little. nwhunter

That's a great bull, have been watching him for a few years now too. I really like the crown he is developing on his left side.

He's short on his main beams but his front G1, 2's, and 3's are nice and long, average mass...my gut says 340 class.

I just go with my gut reaction.  I've been within a 1/2 inch or off by 20 inches...it's hard to do consistently well, especially with photos.  Mike Eastman has a great method for mulies that he's perfected over many years.  When I try to add up lengths and mass guesses, I'm usually way off.  I'm better at sizing up a "frame" and giving it about 10 seconds of thought.  I may be off on this bull, I'm just guessing.  It's easy to over judge elk.  A 300" bull is a very nice mature animal.  If you can get photos of a net ~300" bull it will help you ingrain that image for the field.

I was thinking 350-360. But i don't know anything :tung:

He is a 340 bull with some junk that will gross him that high.  his frame is 340.  He'd have died this year.  Not many met the criteria, but he would have.

Thats pretty much how I do it , gut feeling.

I wouldn't have taken this bull.  People need to stop looking at the rack... his tail is way to short.. :IBCOOL:

Great photos.
But there is one thing wrong.
That animal ought to be hanging in a meat locker somewhere.   :bash:
