Probably a dumb question, but anyone know any tips for catching winter blackmouth from shore/pier? I’m getting antsy from not fishing.

Take up river fishing and travel to where the fish are.

If you really really wanted to go out i guess using a surf rod off a drop off and use cut plug herring with a 3 ounce weight. heard of guys doing this and catching one every once and a while. A river is probably your best bet though  :twocents:

We used to catch them all over Port Angeles. Most were off the log booms with are no longer there. Lots off the end of the spit. My dad was in the coast guard so I could fish there. Caught them off the city pier also. If you can find birds working bait then that would be a good thing. Little Cleo's and crocodile spoons worked the best.  Let them sink on a tight line through the bait then real them slowly back so they wobble. If there is no sign of bait in the area, don't waste your time.
