Anybody have this cam? I just got it for christmas and it looks really cool. I have it hung up about 1/4 mile from my house so we'll see how it turns out. The pic quaility seems good. But I wanna see how night pics are.

I got a D40 for Christmas just got a chance to set it up today it is pretty straight forward for setup. We will see how it does. Have fun with your new toy I know I will. :)
-
I got the D40 also. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
-
Good for you. I was not real impressed with the bungie cords it came with so i will need to figure something else out there. But I got it setup above the house and will see what we come up with.
Happy Flashing too ya.

D40 SUCK A$$$$$$ THE 5.0ISALITTLE BETTER NOT MUCH

My D40 works great. I use the bungee cords from the dollar store. They come in a 6 pack of 3 sizes & work great.
-
Well that may be your opinion but it fairs pretty well in the reviews and besides it was a gift from my wife and I am darn happy to have it. Never look a gift horse in the mouth!!!!
-
You will be happy with it.
-
My D40 was given to me from my brother and it's gotta be better than what I had previously- which was none. :) I think it will be a lot of fun and I'm glad it's not one of the real expensive ones as I would be too worried about it being stolen.
-
You had any issues with theives? I was looking at building a box for it so it would be a little less attractive to someone that is at least on the border of taking it or not. And chain it down good to the tree.

"it's gotta be better than what I had previously- which was none."
I am right there with ya Bobcat I have a family to feed and house so sometimes what ya get is priceless no matter the price tag.

Its better than nothing, and it should be fun, i don't think trigger speed is that slow. And a 2gb memory card holds 2000 5megapixel pictures! :yike:.
Here is a link to it. It really has a good camo pattern too. You can hardly see it on an oak tree :IBCOOL:.

The D40 is a good deal for the money. Ditch the cheap bungee cords and use regular bungees. I also added an 1/8" homemade cable lock for it and added a Master padlock to the cover latch. Camo it out and you're good to go. The pics don't compare to my home-brew cams but for an extra set of eyes working for you, it's a great rig for the measly $70 I paid at Wal*Mart.
Here are some typical photos. The flash range is shorter than advertised so you need to consider that in your set ups. It will get out there about 12 feet is all.

Nice pics ;)

Looks good to me. I dont need professional quality photos, just want to see what size deer/elk are in my hunting areas and what times they travel through.
-
Then the D40 is perfect. I got 6-8 weeks of battery life through the summer, (6) D cells. Pick up SD cards from www.surpluscomputers.com (best prices anywhere for flash memory) and you're in business.
-
What size memory cards are you using? I picked up two 2 gigabyte cards for 10 bucks a shopco ;). It holds 2124 5 megapixel pictures :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Those are some good pics Bow4Elk that's why i went with the flash instead of IR for the color night shots. I will be more than happy to get the quality of pics you have shown here. What are you using to camo it? I have had it out for 5 days and it is down to 80 - 85% battery and had maybe 25 or 30 pictures. I am assuming partly due to the temps. Do you guys just use the rechargeable batteries Dcells or do you have the solar chargers setup on them?
