I decided I needed to pick up a progressive press. I am going back and fourth on which to get. I have always liked rcbs and lately I have been buying more hornady stuff.
So I am looking at the hornady LNL progressive with ez-ject and the rcbs pro 2000.
I am just looking for some feedback from the guys running them. If there are things that you like about them and don't like please let me know.
I have only ever loaded with a progressive dillion my buddy has and no I am not spending that much money lol.
Thanks in advance.

go blue
oh sorry I didn't read your whole post :chuckle:

I have heard great things about the hornady.....but have personally never used one. Haven't heard much about the RCBS. Whichever you buy please give a review as I will be in the market come late summer.
-
:ACRY: I wish blue was a option right now but it's not.

You'll get a poster of this gal holding guns and not wearing much clothing....

I personally us a Lee and Lyman turret presses because I like to weigh all my powder charges. I would look at a Ponsness/Warren METALLIC II it is a Semi-Progressive Single-Stage Rifle and Pistol Reloader. If the Metallic is as good as their shot shell loaders you have a win-win and they are somewhat local for us Rathdrum ID, and great customer service. If it doesn't float your boat then go with the Hornady they have better customer service than RCBS so I've been told. :twocents:
-
That is why I have never bought one before. I like to weigh each load. Yet for the 223 which is what I am going to be using it for I don't have to be super precise.

Mid South has the Hornady LNL progressive on sale for $390, maybe I need one :dunno:. Wife would say >:( you got another press, you have 4 why do you need another?? And besides you have 6 for shot shells, I bet you will be asking for an addition to your reloading room. :chuckle:
Go with RED

:chuckle: That's funny right there :chuckle:

Have you checked out used ones? I sold one about 3 months ago for $300, and another one a few weeks ago for $450 with a couple of caliber conversions. They weren't mine, I sold them for a buddy who picked them up at an estate sale. I'm a Lee single stage guy personally. I have a Lee progressive press (got it for $30) for loading handgun ammo and I hate that thing with a passion! a friend has the Hornady LNL, and he loves it. I still hate it. I just need to weigh each powder charge or I feel like I'm cheating. Unless somebody makes a progressive that I can load my 375 BME on. :chuckle:

I'm watching for used blue presses all the time and they really hold their value. Most of the time if they are even 10% below a new one they are sold the 1st day. I want a 1050 in the worst way. :)

I have looked around a little for them with little to no luck.
Like I said other then loading a little on a friends progressive I have always been a single stage press guy. However I am burning enough 223 that I am ready to cheat a little and go progressive :chuckle:

Dillon has there basic loader that you can start out with. Price from Dillon is $259.95. You can add parts to it as $$ allows and end up with a 550B when it's all said and done.

I've been using the Hornady LNL for about 4 years now and i don't have any major complaints. I broke a small piece on it ( it was my fault) and I called hornady and they sent me a free replacement had it in 3 days.
-
Two thumbs up for the 550B.
I'd say hold off. I've never heard of anyone that didn't have the best of luck with the Dillon. On the flip side I know the previous mentioned brands have good reputations, which are well deserved, but I just don't think they match up to the Dillon.
Hold out, get one that will last forever with a true "no bs warranty".
-
I've got a 550 and my dad has the LnL. You'll get some that will tell you, if it isn't blue it's a POS but I've used both and they'll both produce good ammo. If I had to start all over and considering I've used both, I'd have a hard time talking myself out of the LnL for less money.
-
I hear blue is the way to go. Any chance you an go see a red and green work? Man, tough choice!!
-
Yeah I have still been thinking blue. I might just bite the bullet and get a dillion. It will probably be next month when I try to talk my wife into a new press for a bday present lol.
-
Might as well go all out and get the Dillon 650 then.
-
 I just sold a few of my personal guns and took the money and picked up a 10mm and 357 sig. So my extra funds and pretty flat right now. Hints the birthday request :chuckle:
-
First choice is BLUE second is green duel single stage presses.
-
Hornady LnL is a well though out design and has good factory support. You might need to to tune/tweak a bit to get it smooth as butter, but it is a great deal in progressive presses for the money with lots of potential for upgrades.
-
i used to build the presses at perry tech for dillon, they really are top shelf. :twocents:

Sell the 357 sig and slap a 9x25 dillion barrel in your 10mm. Use the left over $ to buy blue

Blue the only way to go, have two, and if you do have a problem you can't beat their customer service!!!

This new little 320 in 357 sig is one of the nicest shooting pistols I have ever laid my hands on. The 10mm should be here tomorrow :IBCOOL:

Picked up an LNL a couple of months ago and it has been great so far. Setup was pretty easy and resulting ammo has been very consistent. They also have a rebate for 500 bullets which is worth about $100 depending which bullet you choose to receive.
