If you go to the bottom of this page http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/regulations/seasonsetting/index.php (http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/regulations/seasonsetting/index.php)
You can comment on the changes to trapping season and regulations for the next three year package.
Comments need to be in by Feb. 24

not seeing to much to worry about,,,,,,got anything we need to look at?
-
my computer wont let me open the pdf's and read what the changes are. any notable ones to comment on?
-
No changes except for things that we asked for so we are in pretty good shape.
Eliminates the otter closure areas in E WA and eliminates the otter bag limit in E WA
Gives WDFW the ability to allow non-department personal to CITES tag bobcat and otter.
Clarifies that we can use furbearer parts for bait.
We didn't get everything we asked for but I'd say we made some gains if the changes are adopted.
It doesn't hurt to comment in favor of the proposed changes.

Thanks, Bruce, for everything you and the rest of the WSTA do for us trappers. You rock.

I think I waded through all the trapping stuff but didn't see anything about listing no-trapping waterfowl refuges in the TRAPPING regs and Nate Pamplin said he was going to make that happen. Did I miss it somewhere?
-
I think that doesn't require a change in the regs presented to the F&W Commission. I understood they would put a link in the regs to descriptions of refuges.
I'll need to talk to them and make sure. Report back when I find out for sure.

I talked to Brian Caulkins today. They are listing a link in the regs to a description of each refuge. I would not count on any better posting. If you have a particular problem area you can volunteer with the Refuge manager to help post it and that may spur them to get started, otherwise probably nothing going to happen.

I wish WDFW would incorporate the refuge regulations into the hunting and trapping regulations. Right now if you look at the hunting regs it shows coyote as open statewide year round. Well that doesn't apply to National Wildlife Refuges, of which only Little Pend Orielle is open to coyote hunting. Not only does this cause a lot of confusion it also means that only the federal government can prosecute violators.
By actually listing the NWR regulations in the regulation section (not just a link) it not only reduces confusion but also allows the state to prosecute offenders, instead of solely the federal government.

:yeah:
Agree with that but we are currently dealing with clarifying just the State Refuge descriptions. Haven't even delt with NWR system yet.
