So I'm mainly a archery hunter and I usually put in for observatory bull tag which I drew last year so chances are I won't this year with the potential sweet seasons we r going to have. :bash: but I do have 9 points in the bull Catagory that I've been racking up and there are only a couple archery hunt permits available in areas I'm not familiar with like 335. My thoughts are if I draw multi season elk I could put in for a rifle permit in observatory or peaches or other area to use these points up or try for archery in 335.
What yall think? Is there a better permit to go after in the bull Catagory?
Any info on 335 as far as will the elk be on public land or private come end of nov?
I want to keep my archery general season option open so I will only apply if I draw the multiseason.

Too many variables till the regs come out unfortunately. Wish we got that info a lot sooner.

True. I got the fever a bit early this year

I've already been trying to plan my hunting strategy for the year too. I don't think it's too early. The proposals are out, and not much is likely to change in the final reg's that come out in April. The only thing I'm really waiting on now is to know how much Weyerhaeuser and other timber companies will be charging for access, and how many access permits will be available.
To answer the question, that's a tough one. I believe you get four choices so I'd pick some that have decent odds, maybe put some of the rifle hunts for choices 1, 2, and 3, and for your 4th choice put in for the Teanaway archery.

Will Alkali be in the Bull category again this year?

isn't that pretty limited on access due to the military area?
it's listed on the proposed regs. only change i see are the dates.

I guess my more likely decision will be if I don't get multi elk then i need to decide is it worth burning my 9 points on a bull permit for one of the three EA permits offered. GMU 186, 335, 371, or elk area 1040.
Decisions decisions..........

I don't think I would. Save the points for when you have the multi season and apply for some of the modern bull permits. Unless you really just want to have a chance at a bull this year that's more than a spike, then apply for Teanaway. It's not a bad option but is kind of weather dependent.
