I've never had a pull out in a cage trap.

I was up at the Great American Outdoor Show yesterday and today in Harrisburg, PA. I was chatting with Alan Probst, the Host of Freedom Brands outdoor trapping show on the Pursuit channel. This is the third time I have had the pleasure of chatting with Alan, a very nice, down to earth guy. I told him I imagine lots of guys come up to you and say hey you should do a show on this or that, He said what you got? I said there are some outstanding trappers in Washington State that are really doing a fantastic job with swim-thru's and cage traps for otter, beaver, mink, and bobcats. I said there are a few states that can now only use those type of traps and I bet all trappers would love a show about catching quality fur in those situations. He thought it was a great idea. He said send me some contact information and maybe he can work out a schedule and come up for a few days and shoot some footage for the show. So if anyone would be interested (3 Nails, Cultusman, Humptulips, Trapper John, etc...?????) let me know and I will pass along your contact information. I think it would be awesome to show the rest of the US how you guys are so handicapped but still getting it done. Let me know what you guys think.

We are not handicapped,our traps are just bigger and heavier but just as efficient if not better.

So if I-713 was ever overturned you wouldn't go back to snares and footholds? :) :) I think the neat thing would be to show the rest of the country that cage trapping, say in urban areas or in States like WA, etc... can still be very effective!! Interested?

The cages work but let's be honest they severely limit you. Coyote trapping, marten, otter and even animals that will go in a cage no problem think about just the bulk of traps you have to haul around. That really limits you on how far you can get from the road or how many sets you can get out and take care of everyday.

Hard to get excited about trapping when it is 60 degrees and the fur market down.
And yes I would like to have my leg holds back for some animals,but I would continue to use my Comstock swim throughs,they are quick to set and very rarely will you find one set off with nothing in it.
