Title: shoulder holster
Post by: splitshot on February 17, 2015, 11:32:56 AM: am seeking a shoulder holster with the gun in the mid chest area. have a sig 938 and an sp 101. reason is I do a lot of backpacking and wearing waders and both require the gun to not be on my hip but to be stowed away. will probably have to buy the holster in Spokane or online. thank you, mike w

Post by: jrebel on February 17, 2015, 01:34:26 PM: Check out Gunfightersinc.com and look at the Kenai Holster. I am having one made for my Ruger 454 5" barrel. These guys make great holsters. I will give a review when I get it back and try it out.

Can I ask the price ? Is your a chest holster ? I paid $175 delivered for my KBar for my full size 1911. Amish do the work, so the craftsmanship is wonderful.

The Kenai is $150. The other holsters have run be around $75.

I have the "original" kit bag and it will easily handle a Glock 20 with a 6" barrel and slide or my Freedom Arms .454 (4.75" barrel). It's VERY comfortable to wear on long hikes and what not. Dang near bomb proof as well.

Now that you bring that up - The Hill People Gear bag is on my list also. I was leaning to the Recon Kit Bag.

Post by: jrebel on February 17, 2015, 08:01:11 PM: I also run the Crossfire Alaskan holster which is OK....but a little clumsy. It is not a chest rig, but it works well for a cross draw. I don't like my large bore revolvers on my hip. This works especially well when riding my dual sport. If the Kenai works like they say it does.....my Alaskan will be put away to collect dust.

I like my Bianchi 111 Cyclone crossdraw for brush bustin (and chasing dogs when hound hunting was still legal).

Had a shoulder holster way back when and all the upper torso gyrations climbing up and down through dead falls would fling it all over.
After getting the crossdraw I found it was easier to control and it didn't catch on brush.
AND..the crossdraw is especially comfortable driving log roads.
