Not sure if this has been posted yet, if it was, I missed it.

The Discover Pass, which provides holders access to state recreation lands, will have a new look in 2015.
The design, which features a green nature scene background, will help differentiate the pass from the yellow hangtag and paper vehicle access pass issued by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The new pass will be printed in full color on durable synthetic paper. It will be issued beginning this month through the Department of Licensing and State Parks websites. Passes also are sold at 28 state parks. The new passes for those locations will be shipped this month.
The new passes will be available at more than 600 retail outlets statewide in February.
The paper is tear resistant and will not curl or fade over the course of the year. It also is recyclable.
For the state, the new pass has a benefit. It is cheaper to produce than the current passes printed on Tyvek.
The pass is required when using recreation lands and water-access sites managed by Washington State Parks, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the state Department of Natural Resources. These lands include more than 100 state parks, almost 700 water-access points, heritage sites, more than 110 wildlife and natural areas, Natural Resources and Fish and Wildlife campgrounds, trails and trailheads and all-DNR managed uplands.
The pass also can be transferred between two vehicles.

Never seen one :chuckle: never will!
-
I don't have any National Forest near me, so I have to purchase the pass, even if it's just so I can go target shooting in the woods.
-
That looks so snappy that I just have to buy one......................NOT
-
Thats really nice thats going to cause me to run right out and purchase one.

I just go target shoot. I haven't ever seen the original pass. I still refuse. I enjoy roads that taxes paid for years ago. I have yet to see Anyone enforcing the discover pass. Even at rainbow falls state park in the spring. No camp host. If they asked id say yeah it came w my hunting tags the yellow guy right...? :chuckle:
-
Im certain that they wanted a different color scheme one so that it stands out different from the WDFW hunting pass making it easier to shake people down... That and "marketing" it to show that its different than the hunting one.
Ill still refuse to buy one.
-
They probably re-did the pass because to many people were using copying machines and making their own. Buy one pass and print off a handful for all your buddies.
-
I have yet to see Anyone enforcing the discover pass.
Easily over a thousand tickets issued every year.
-
Are these going to be stand alone passes or are they going to be printed on the crappy wax paper the the hunter parking are made of? If they go to a designated DP hanger, then the cost just went WAY up and it will take more sales to make the parks department their meager sales.
-
The whole discover pass thing is *censored* we already shell out enough money as it is.
I recently noticed a fresh dp required sign on a forest service bulliten board on forest service land, I sure wanted to rip it off. Fricken scums trying to trick people into buying a discover pass so they can park on forest service land. Ridiculous. You need a b.s. in discover pass in order to understand the reasoning behind it :yike:

If mr jones catches ya on the athanum without one, you will be ticketed.

There is a lot of state land in the NE, if you get checked by WDFW officers while on state land that is one of the first things they check. I just received my new pass in the mail in the last week or so, it was still the old style.

The article says new paper that retains the color and is cheaper.

.......................and hopefully it's to the anti-hunters, anti-atvers.

There might be a teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy improvement in hunting in the works, partly due to the unfairness of the Discover Pass. Bill 1346 that opens up some State Park land to hunting passed out of the first committee. It is changed to instruct the State parks to try a pilot program of allowing hunting in four state parks. One of the arguments pushing State Parks to allow some type of hunting somewhere is that 84% of the DP $ goes to parks when hunters buy one to hunt DNR.

Well ticket me then.

Duck hunting on water out front of a park is not really hunting in a park.
The whole reason for the DP is to fund parks and it is wrong to take funds from hunters to pay for parks. Not really a surprise at the degradation of the Pay to Play philosophy that was in Wa state.
-
We can vote in Gov. Christine Gregoire again :chuckle: The money was to pull the state out of debt, yeah right straight to the general fund.

You should of removed it, that's straight up lying to get people to buy the pass, some people just don't know much about our public lands and who runs what and will buy on now they see the bogus sign. :twocents:
I caught up with my dues for the last three years last year. :chuckle:

:chuckle: I'm sure my time is coming. Although I rarely ever go on to state.

Never seen one :chuckle: never will!
:yeah: No thanks, I pay enough. And I spend 99% of my time in the backcountry on na forest land.

Will the new ones use UV resistant ink? I know my current pass that expires in August look like a blank piece of plastic stapled to the yellow mirror hanger.

Which I bet is why they changed them up... hard to distinguish a faded WDFW permit from a DP one...
-
It's also hard to distinguish a Discover pass from a WDFW pass, they're both yellow and look exactly the same.
