Folks here's a Podcast on the Estrus Buzz & it's meaning! Is this truly an Estrus sound a cow will use when wanting to be bred? You be the judge! (grin) It's an awesome sound to use for us hunters, as all sounds used by us timing is key! It's best listened to with ear buds or head-phones.
If you are not logged in to Sound cloud type in elknut1 in the search box above once there & it will take you to the Podcasts. Thanks!

Thanks Paul; I learned something. :)

I like these podcasts. They give me something to listen to when I need a quick elk fix. And its from someone with realistic local insight. Id like to hear one on lip bawling.
-
Bullfisher, sounds good! Anything specific about Lip Bawls that concern you? Thanks.

Thanks for killing my cell battery :chuckle:
That was good ! weve always called that the fighting cow....i tend to use it as a last resort (idk why) when I can't keep a bull taking but have had pretty good success in getting responses from it

No concerns, just a topic suggestion. Why they do it, when to use it and your best representation of it. I suppose the same could done for other any other call topic. Keep em coming though!

kentrek, anytime dude! (grin) Glad you enjoyed them! Now you know this Estrus/Regathering Buzz is not about cows fighting! (grin) It sure will attract them though! I'll bet you've found out it can attract all elk!
bullfisher, sounds good. I have it marked down as one of the Topics coming up. It's a sound that we as hunters need to understand when & why it's used much more so than a real need to use it. I'll be happy to share my rendition of it on the Podcast as well as many other elk sounds. -- This is one of the reasons I'm putting these together, it's to show joe hunter (me & you) that we do not have to be champion callers to call elk in, I mean a lot of elk! Just be believable & use the sound per encounter that elk expect to hear at that time. Make it real & they will come when you're close enough! Thanks for the input!
p.s. Lip Bawls are generally used around the cows & for the cows sake. Intensity & repetitiousness of this sound dictates the message & whether urgency is required to the recipient.

Hey this is great stuff Paul! I hope you keep doing these, I am getting a ton out of them. Good marketing, too, I got my eye on some things in your store. :)

What I ment by fighting is..."fighting for the bulls attention" and yeap ! While I tend to use it when standard calls are failing it sure is one heck of a back up plan !

Yes, this Cow Buzz can be used on high volume as a Location call just as well as a location bugle can! The reason it can work so well is it asks an action out of elk within earshot. Bulls or cows a like can respond to this sound thus giving away their position. As mainly a bowhunter for elk this is all we ask for when using specific sounds for location purposes. Thanks!
p.s. new Podcast coming up shortly! I'll start a new Thread with that one. The new one is called "One Last Bugle" (grin)
