Title: Fishing and camping options with Kids in Eastern WA
Post by: Elkrunner on March 04, 2015, 01:38:56 PM: Hey there everyone,
I was hoping that some of you could give me some pointers on some low key places to camp(preferably with a trailer) and fish right at the lake with kids. For example, I take them to Quincy lakes a lot which is great because we can camp, fish and they can play around. Are there any hidden gems out there that I could be taking my kids? PM me if you have any tips. This year I want to be out more with the kids.

Or Bumping lake but we used to go to Milk Pond all the time. Camp across the road and she kids could fish it any time they w acted and we could keep a eye on them.

Post by: syoungs on March 04, 2015, 01:59:57 PM: it sounds kinda cheesy, but I like to camp at the hood park campground, and you can walk to the hood park pond to catch stocker trout, not to far outta town, and the fishing can be crowded at times, but for the most part its a worthwhile trip that is easy to accomplish time wise

I would go to Rimrock lake if I knew someone that wanted to drag a boat over and possibly snag some Kokes or maybe go find some hunting spots.

I'm going to check it out either Friday morning or Monday morning. They do have selective gear rules in effect. I will definitely get back to you on whether or not it is any good.

I was thinking of checking banks lakes out. I haven't been over that way since moving over here. Thanks for the pointers.

Non-stop action for the kids and they learn to fight big fish on light line. They didn't know you weren't supposed to like carp fishing and just had a blast. There is also good largemouth bass fishing and the water is much warmer than any of the surrounding lakes so swimming is a lot of fun too.

Post by: Igor on March 05, 2015, 07:44:00 AM: My suggestion would be Jack's Resort at the south end of Jameson Lake. Full hookups at a reasonable price, and tent spots available, as well.

This is a perfect lake for the kids to fish from the bank. You can always catch trout there, with holdovers up to 15"-16".

The owners of the resort, Anna and Ginger, are really fun people and their little cafe serves great food.

That said I like taking the dogs out to Steamboat rock swimming and there is decent fishing there. I don't think Coffee pot is looking good, the water level is so low the boat ramp is closed, check the Rich Landers blog-

I would recommend Lake Roosevelt or Pot holes reservoir. Both places have several places to camp and fishing is good from shore or even better by boat. At Pot holes there is pretty good fishing at Mardon's from their dock.

Post by: lokidog on March 05, 2015, 08:18:25 AM: At Banks we never saw any snakes or scorpions, but the ticks were pretty thick where we camped across the lake. Lots of fish, years ago anyways, large and smallmouth, walleye, perch, crappie, and trout. Bobber fishing is awesome as you never know what will be on the line when you pull it in.

I need to get back over there again.

Post by: Badhabit on March 05, 2015, 08:55:37 AM: I'll pitch one for Potholes State Park, full hook up camping or tent camping. They also have some Yurtz or small cabins. You can bank fish from the park on Frenchmans, bass, trout and catfish. You can go over to Mardon and fish from the dock or bank fish on the east side at Medicare beach/Perch Point. Head down to the seep lakes like Soda, Little Goose. If you bring a pet to the east side I'd be treating them with tick repellent. That stuff you squeeze along their neck and rub in. I pulled about 20 of the little buggers off my dog about 2 yrs ago from 10 minutes of running in the brush.
