A huge thanks to all the Hunt WA members and everyone else that attended the WA Wild Sheep Foundation banquet last night. As predicted it was hugely successful and we even had a little unpredicted twist at the end. If you were there you know what I'm talking about. It is going to be exciting to see what Mr. Sayer has in store for us but if you have never hunted sheep before, I would be making plans to be at the banquet in 2016.

Had a blast last night! It will be interesting to see what happens next year, what a great guy to want to give the hunt to someone else, heck of a guy. I won an elk collaring experience in the near future, almost won the puppy. I went to get a drink and when I get back to the table my wife is up to 1,600.00 for the puppy! :yike: Good thing the other bidders kept on bidding, looking forward to next year. Some of the bidding items went for really good prices this year. Thanks to all the guys and gal at our table for a great night. See ya next year!
Ha, next year we'll make sure you get delayed a little longer at the bar so we can have a table puppy!

I was at Banquet, thought it was well done. The drawing for the Texas Sheep was confusing as MR SAYER Made a statement that Perplexes me as to it's meaning, I think he meant well, but it makes me uneasy when someone wants to change the rules. In my opinion if he felt he didn't deserve the Hunt he should have let it be drawn again. Just my 2 cents, not to stir things up.He did want it to be redrawn, the rules wouldn't allow it. That's what the discussion was about by the podium. He was willing to give up a sheep hunt to someone who has never hunted a sheep before, unreal. Can you imagine giving up a hunt you won for stone sheep and giving it to someone else?

Sorry for the confusion. Mr Sayer won the hunt and wanted to donate it back to WWSF to be auctioned off to raise money for the conservation of wild sheep. The problem is our rules say that the hunt can't be sold. To be honest we never thought of this particular set of circumstances. We have that rule because we don't want Joe Blow to win the hunt and then sell it to another person to profit from it. Mr. Sayer really just wanted to provide more $ to put and keep sheep on the mountain. If I were in his shoes I don't think I would have said draw again; who knows who the next name will be, it might be the most deserving person in the world or it may be a guy that has multiple grand slams. Either way it does not provide more conservation funding which was his goal. I applaud his dedication to conservation and humbleness.Absolutely, agree. Very humble, an auction of that tag would have been interesting. You guys, who set the rules should consider a rule change to allow the recipient to allow the tag to be auctioned off by their discretion. He had the sheep foundations best interest at hand, and those who have never had the chance to hunt sheep before. Never before have I seen in person such a show of passion and unselfishness.

Prior to the drawing the remainder of the cards go in the tumbler. That way there are no mistakes. I don't think the tag should be allowed to be turned back in and auctioned off, although it does raise more money, it goes against what that drawing is for and probably against what a lot of the contributors would have wanted who donated towards the hunt. Throw it up to auction and the number of guys who would have paid the big bucks is pretty limited. Just my opinion. It'll be interesting to see what happens next year for sure.
:yeah: I couldn't agree more. The wife and I had a great time. Scree, you and the rest of the Board did a great job putting this together. I haven't been for a few years and had forgot how much fun it is.

I want to also give a big thanks to the members who set up the banquet and got all of the items for the auction and raffle. There were some really nice items in the silent auction and the raffle. Although I told my buddy that it would be hard for someone to wear that Seahawks jersey to a game full of drunk fans trying to explain why he likes sheep, a joke about Montana kept popping up in my head. Andy was a class act acknowledging the vets and first responders. The only other thing I would have liked to have seen was for them to acknowledge some of the guides who have been donating for several years.
Absolutely I should have mentioned the donors/outfitters. A sincere thanks goes out to them for sure! I added that to my after action review list. Thanks for bring it up they most certainly deserve it!

This is what you actually looked like when you found out the bid :yike: heh heh. I think it was $5000 for the puppy last year. :yike: :yike:

Every life member's name is in the tumbler but you must be present to win. So my buddy who was unable to come had the same chance of having his name drawn as me. The difference is if his name was drawn he could not win because he was not there. We then draw again and if necessary keep drawing until we get to a name that is present. National WSF draws their 1 more for 4 drawing the same way. Two years ago they went through 6 names before getting to some one that was present.
Also I would have been able to give my buddy a hard time for the rest of his life which would have been really fun for me :chuckle:
