My Treager grill was leaking grease or oil from the lid so I took it back to Costco. The manufacture said all I need to do is get some fireplace gasket to seal the lid and it wont do that. Really? They expect me to fix a design flaw. I loved the grill but hated seeing my porch getting dirty and the grill mat was turning into a mess. I am considering a GMG and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? The design seems a little nicer and they are built of heavier gauge steel for sure.

We graduated from the traeger to the GMG and couldn't be happier, have not had a single hiccup with it   :hello:

GMG....I love mine. The wifi is still a work in progress but I really like the consistency in temps over the traegar.

I love mine I use it a couple days a week

I absolutely love my GMG Jim Bowie. I have had few problems with it and GMG Corporate has stood behind it the whole way. I have used mine in competition, catering, testing, as well as just cooking food.
I had had a few pellet jams. One grease fire.
I have run into a few design issues
Leaking. Ended up putting flat gaskets around the lid.
Legs.... I need the legs to be easier to move and install. I remove the legs when I put the smoker on my truck.
From a competitive BBQ stand point.... MAK grills/smokers are the top of the line. Their price tag matches but they are awesome pellet poopers. GMG is about the middle of the pack. Traeger..... some where near the bottom.
Pellets: GMG Texas blend totally rocks. My goto pellets for pork and beef. BBQers Delight is my second pellets. Love the pecan, hickory, and cherry pellets. Beware of pellets that are hardwood flavored. These are usually alder based with a touch of hardwoods. Be very picky.

Get a Big Green Egg and don't look back :-)

Not sure how I missed this thread..
I have a GMG as well, Haugenna and I bought at the same time. I have 140#+ of pellets thru mine and am enjoying it. Took me a while to make the transition to pellet grill as I always used propane..
Get the WIFI, it is worth it. Programming cooks and stagered temps is very nice, plus cold Nov/Dec days in watching footbal and monitoring the grill from your laziboy..

I also have the GMG Jim Bowie. It's pretty sweet. Had one issue with the low pellet sensor and they had a new one off to me in the mail right away and walked me through installing it step by step (which was simple). Still getting used to cooking with more of a convection heat but I couldn't be happier with the performance of the grill and the company's customer service.

I guess I will be the lone dissenter here. Have had my GMG Daniel boone for 3 years. Im on control board #3, temp sensor #3, and hot rod #2. Mine was a dud from the get go. Temp problems, pellet clogs, and now i have to light pellets with a propane torch. The food this thing puts out is incredible but the hassle isnt worth it any more. I can no longer do overnight cooks as this grill will shut off at some point. GMG has been great to work with for customer service but I think I got a lemon and no amount of customer service seems to be able to fix it. Just thought i would throw this out there. Not every review is positive.

Have you asked GMG to just replace the entire grill? Just curious as to what they would say if you explained your troubles and that you would like to regain confidence in their product with a fully functioning unit? I've had mine for about 6months and use it 2-3 times a week. No troubles...knock on wood.

I have. They just keep sending me new parts. I have replaced everything that make these things tick. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Good grill when its working but I cant recommend it to anyone I know due to the issues I have had.

I can't blame you for that, I would be frustrated too. I am honestly shocked they did not offer a replacement sooner if you had problems from the start. GMG does have fantastic customer service. Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience.
I know I had auger jams when my grill was out in the weather, the pellets got moisture in them an expanded. Mine stays under cover 100% of time now and not had a problem since. I got mine in Aug so not quite a year.

I think they were close to offering up a new unit but my local dealer was in the way somehow. I was extremely happy when the grill was working right. I have cooked some incredible meals on the thing. I am 3 years into it now and just use it every once in a while. Although i grill almost every night.

I had a traeger and was happy with the food but had problems with it keeping the right temp and it going out. Gave it to my brother and bought the Daniel Boone model. Have had it about a year now and zero problems. I usually use it once or twice a week so it has gotten some use.

Been trying to decide which grill I wanted, the traeger or the GMG. Sounds like I have my answer!

Have a GM, love it no problems and have had iover a year and a half
