RATS? Real rats or ??
-
Sage rats, a ground squirrel that raises he'll in the alfalfa. They bread and eat at the same rate.
At any rate shooting has been good. Not great but good. Been through 600 rounds of HMR in a day and 3hours of shooting. weather has been from a little Sun to hard rain with wind from blowing you off the shooting bench to calm an great shooting for over an hour.
A bit early for pups, an other two to three weeks, so good adult and juvie shooting.
Well time for grub and back to shooting.

Do you have a good public area or private? I would like to get out after some myself
-
All private, but not hard to get permission to hunt. A little something for the farmer that lets you hunt and being respectful of their land. We get hats gloves salmon or anything you might have and they don't is appreciated.
Oh today was another 300-400 round day of good shooting bug a bit cold with wind.

how many do u get with hundreds of rounds shot?

If you have a tack driving Hmr like I do,your kill ratio can be very high.My best day was 2 yrs ago,I shot right at 700 on Memorial Day weekend. With just about 10 missed shots.Shooting anywhere from 20 yds to stretching the legs on the .17 to about 150yds.Just my opinion,Hornady 17's or CCI 17's can't go wrong. One mistake I made, there is not many this year where I was hunting. That is what they wanted,to eliminate as many as possible.I need some new grounds to hunt now,I need to go door knocking I guess?I did take up pigeon hunting on the same grounds, they are roosting in the apple bins. What a kick in the butt!

No whistle pigs in my area yet but shouldn't be too much longer. Haven't checked on my rat areas

Well bad news today, blue bird day and the rats slept in. Damon took till late afternoon to get them up and running but another good day with 350shots down range. I have gone over a 100 percent with very few missed and doubles and triples. Normally run 90-95 present shooting if I keep my head down. Normal shooting used to be under a 100 yards so a 22 was just right but as years have gone by it's more a 17HMR or 17M2 game. Well one day left and back home I come.

Talked to a buddy in Oregon and they have been out and about....

Got home this afternoon. Yesterday was a GREAT day. One 20 acre field and 429 rounds of HMR. And that doesn't count the son and his friend. Weather was shirt sleeve and a constant supply of targets, no babies yet but a few smaller rats mixed in. Good 6 day hunt and already thinking of more. Now to try and hunt down some more ammo.
