Title: Help Please - want to mount red dot (weaver base) on Mossberg 500
Post by: PiNkPaNtHeR on April 08, 2015, 06:06:42 PM
Has anyone mounted a scope on a Mossberg 500 12-ga? I've had a scope that I purchased from Cabela's for a couple of years now and would like to mount it on the shotgun. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If it has a vent rib, someone makes a weaver style mount that clamps to it, can't remember who made mine (http://www.amazon.com/B-Square-Universal-Cantilever-Mount-Ribs-8-Inch/dp/B000VYPF2S (http://www.amazon.com/B-Square-Universal-Cantilever-Mount-Ribs-8-Inch/dp/B000VYPF2S)).  These are more accurate than the ones that mount to the action since the barrel does not lock into the action on the shotgun (http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-No-Gunsmith-Converta-Shotgun-Mount/dp/B00162QKT6/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1428544350&sr=1-2&keywords=scope+mount+mossberg+500 (http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-No-Gunsmith-Converta-Shotgun-Mount/dp/B00162QKT6/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1428544350&sr=1-2&keywords=scope+mount+mossberg+500)).  This is probably not a concern for turkey hunting.
