Just thought someone here may be interested in this.
I'm in the market for trail cams and I came across this today:

I have the m990i, and it has been flawless.  The battery life, pictures, and the viewing are superb.  I have been shopping around for a deal for a couple more.

This chart is what led me to buy my Browning Strike Force cameras. Very pleased with them.

Thanks for this and thanks for the thumbs up on the M990i.  I was looking at one of these.

Anyone know anything about these (SD card with WiFi)?

http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Wi-Fi-Class-Memory-TS32GWSDHC10/dp/B00A659ILQ (http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Wi-Fi-Class-Memory-TS32GWSDHC10/dp/B00A659ILQ)

They supposedly add WiFi to almost any camera.  I have seen some game cameras explicitly note that they are compatible with such WiFi SD cards (Bushnell, IIRC), but I am wondering about general compatibility and WiFi operability.

I might have to give it a try.

Sorry Flounderz. I just went to get the link and they have raised the price. Supply must be going down or demand rising. Guess I got lucky to have grabbed one when I did. 40% off is still a good deal if the reviews are reliable. If I see the price drop again to the full 50% off I will post it here.

I would guess that the price fluctuates a bit.

I picked up a Blusmart 12 MP 1080P HD Waterproof Game Cam off of craigslist and a Moultrie m990i off of amazon.
I just set them up in the back yard a few minutes ago to see how they work at capturing the family dog on night patrol. I'll give a review of their performance in a few days.
So far I can say that in comparing the two, the Moultrie seems the better constructed camera and the directions are night and day. The Blusmart seems to have been written by somebody with a weak grasp of the English language. An example:
Quote
"Selected swift button to the middle test gear, it would automatically come to the preview testing mode. In this mode, could make the function setting, and also could take the camera usage as a digital camera. Details come as below:"
At any rate, I will post more of a review on the quality of the cameras later.

some of the best performing cams are not even on there..wild game innovations...By far the best cams I OWN..same with all my buddies. All we buy now..work flawlessly in cold weather and thats one of the biggest selling points around here. Thats the failure of 99% of the cams I deem junk

What do you get for battery life on those.

I checked the cams this morning and figured out I had made a mistake. Camera 1 had 4455 pictures and cam 2 had 1200 pictures.  :o
I had left them set on time lapse. D'oh!!
Good thing I'm testing them at home. This is my first set of trail cams and I prefer to make my bonehead mistakes here. I erased everything, programmed them to go on motion, and reset them in the back yard.
The picture quality was good, but I'm going to wait to get some pics of the dog or other critters before I post them up for comparison.

depends on batteries and which models...some run on 12 dbl A's and some on 8...Lithiums will usually last April to november and sometimes longer, but I like to replace with new batts come cold weather if they have been running in cams all season long.

Yeah, I always use lithium batteries in my trail cameras.

Yeah, I always use lithium batteries in my trail cameras.
I'm a little baffled about how well the lithium batteries are lasting in my camera, a Browing Strike Force.  I've had it in operation since December, capturing around 250-300 pictures and the battery life is still showing 100%.

Yeah, they last forever. Especially the cameras that don't take a ton of pictures.

Still can figure why they are so big? Seems a cigarette pack size would be plenty big.  Tough to hide these bulky dinosaurs.

I agree. But the moultries are pretty small.

What cams are bulky ? I wouldn't consider any of my cams bulky . Most of the cams size is to hold batteries. Until a manufacture can come out with a lithium ion rechargeable cam that they could shrink the housing down

I have continued to test the two cams out. I moved them to the front and have been aiming them at the road to capture neighbors driving by.
I left them both out and exposed to the rain storms  and both did just fine.
Both take nice photos. The Moultrie has slightly sharper images at night.
Blusmart motion detection seems to work better. They both captured things like vehicles, but I saw that on two separate occasions a neighbor walked by that the Blusmart captured and the Moultrie did not.
I measured the distances and one pedestrian was at 50 feet and the other at 57 feet.
My next test is going to be to set them back up in the back yard, mark distances at 10foot increments and attempt to trigger them in daylight and at night. I'll update my results when I get them.
Included here are a pic from the Blusmart and one from the Moultrie of the same vehicle. Both photos have been re-sized to accommodate the site.

I had not heard of Bluesmart brand game cams but that looks like a pretty crisp pic.  I see that Amazon has them for $112 (53% off) at the moment.  Good reviews too. http://www.amazon.com/Blusmart-Megapixel-Waterproof-Hunting-Surveillance/dp/B00Q6GW2RG (http://www.amazon.com/Blusmart-Megapixel-Waterproof-Hunting-Surveillance/dp/B00Q6GW2RG)

I ran some more tests.
I placed each camera side by side in the back yard set at "motion detection" with 60 second intervals and used small bamboo plant stakes to mark the distances at 20', 30', 40', 50', and 60'.
I went out while there was still good daylight and and again well after dark.
I would start at the 60' marker count to 65 Mississippi and move around a bit.
Then I would move forward to the 50' marker, counting to 65 Mississippi and move around a bit and repeat the process all the way through the markers and then forward to 10'.
The Moultrie gives zero indications when it takes photos, but the Blusmart has a double red blink that is noticeable if you're looking right at it.
The results showed that the Blusmart took photos when I started to make motions. The Moultrie took photos, but most of them were taken at unexpected moments. I would estimate they were taken after I had moved forward and had counted to around 30 Mississippi.
The Moultrie took better nighttime pics, but the timing of the pics is off. I'll have to run some more tests to figure out what's going on with it.
As for distances, the Moultrie took a couple out past 40' but I would place it where it is going to be within 30'-35' of a trail and probably make efforts to keep it well within that range.
The Blusmart detected motion out to the 60' marker but was very consistent within 50'.
Here are a couple of the nighttime pics at 20'

Hmm. That's weird, because mine fits exactly as advertised. I bet the reviewers that posted that didn't use the mounting bolt that's included.
