Hey my wife and I are going to Leavenworth for our anniversary and she wants to go up to fish lake to go fishen :IBCOOL: we'll be renting a boat at the cove but so you know, my wife never goes fishen with me ever!! So this is kinda a big deal to me, I'm hoping to get her on one of them big browns so she'll be hooked for life. However, I have a question.... I haven't been there in probably 7 years, was wondering if I can get any tips on trolling. I was thinking maybe a wedding ring with a dab of worm or maybe just a rooster tail? Anyone have any luck with trolling or is it better just using bait on the bottom? Thanks.

The frog triple teaser works good for trying for trout

Not hard for the rainbows, just a regular wedding ring with a worm on and a splitshot or two to get you down a little more if you want and troll, I was thinking of going there and trolling when I went to Leavenworth last week but didn't get the chance. For browns I'd tie on a crankbait and troll them.

Plug cut firecracker hearing for the browns.

For browns I like to use pop gear and with a terminal of a double whammy and nightcrawler. I use a regular trolling weight to get it down to 12-20' depending on the temp. I try to just get it below where the rainbows are hanging. Seem to get into bigger fish this way. :hello:

Thanks for the tips guys, we were there last Sunday and caught some rainbows but no browns. Beautiful lake though and eagles everywhere. Wish I lived over there.

Went there waster weekend and used a lot of different stuff. towards the middle of the lake there's a shelf and fishing it trolling a homemade spinner with a fly on thee end seemed to work the best. For browns I would just use a rapala or an apex trout killer. and as the day gets warmer start adding more split shots because they seemed to go deeper. If your in Leavenworth stop by the Dersportsmans and they have a bunch of cool stuff and maybe reports.

Pulled in about an 18" rainbow from there yesterday after work off of the dock with just powerbait. It seems like a tough bite, but there are some good ones in there. I've pulled a lot of eastern brook out of there over the last 2 years though.

Yeah the morning we were there (4-26) a guy caught a 4lb rainbow, the picture was in the store.
