Title: Bears and lithium batteries
Post by: Seahawk12 on April 29, 2015, 11:48:42 PM: So I was watching a show with Les Stroud on it and during the show he said that bears are attracted to lithium batteries. Can anyone confirm this? I hadn't heard that before. I'm interested if any of you can enlighten me as to the validity of this claim.

If lithium's attract bear that's a good reason to use them I suppose.
I use them when the temperature drops below freeze as they take the cold better. I'm too cheap to use them all year around.

Lost one to a bear that was 20 feet in a tree over a wallow... bear climbed up the tree on three different days until he finally broke the strap, then mauled the camera for another two days until it ended up in the wallow.

I came to the same conclusion that they are attracted to the smell, so now I run all bear boxes.
