Anybody use alfalfa pellets to bait with? Similer price to corn @ North40 right now.
-
I did last year and had better luck with the Nuggets. Don't ask me why, the elk ate up the Nuggets and left the pellets alone for the most part.
If they get wet, they disolve fast too.

Tried em for deer and elk cameras. Neither ate them, they just turned to mush and molded

Least ate bait I've ever used. :twocents: I was shocked.

Wait until fall and winter for that. Put out trace salt with selenium or other minerals this time of year
-
:yeah: maybe a little wet cob, the deer at the cabin in Winthrop loved the Alfalfa pellets last late summer, fall and winter.

The deer up there would have ate a pile of *censored* late summer last year. :chuckle: :sry:

This time of year salt is the best option, fall time though, the pellets are good but they do get wet and break down.

Got plenty of salt on the ground. I just thought they'd eat the nuggets up like candy.

Eating non natural food is a learned behavior. If inclined by chance or hunger they may figure out that it is edible.

I've had the best luck with the deer eating the "Allstock" pellets from Dels's more than other pellets. I'm not sure if I have used pure alfalfa though. I always add some apples to my pellets when starting each year, I think this gives them the idea that these might be good to eat. I haven't baited elk. I pretty much feed the deer these to help in the winter, I bait with apples.
I made a covered feeder for my pellets to keep the rain off, plus, I have the luxury of only needing to put out a limited ammount at a time.
