Title: klickitat area
Post by: shorthair15 on May 16, 2015, 06:09:33 PM: i use to hunt this area with my dad when i was younger any public land left here. i heard they were leasing alot of it out. thought about putting in for a muzzie permit here. i have not been up there for about 7 yrs. use to hunt up above lyle on some state land

My uncle had a late muzzle permit in there a couple years back with good success. I always enjoy hunting that unit still. Tho I'll have to find more areas there now...

The SDS thing doesn't make any sense. SDS land in the west klick is closed during archery almost every year due to fire danger.

Post by: KDB on June 09, 2015, 10:23:57 AM: In regards to SDS-Stevenson Land Company lands in West Klickitat. Yes, Spring Creek and a small % of our Snowden lands are archery only areas. And the reason being is the increased # of houses in those areas. Stevenson Land Company, SLC, bought 12,500 acres from the Hancock last year and those lands remain open. 6,000 of those acres are in the Camp7-Dead Canyon area, which is no unauthorized motorized vehicles.
Of the 70,000 acres we own in Klickitat and Skamania Counties most of it is open to the public with restricted vehicle access with the exception of two parcels which are the Winegartner and HWY 141 Units, which are no trespassing without written permission. Also with Weyerhaeuser leasing 8 different parcels in Klickitat County access to SLC lands may be difficult in some areas.

I just found out about the leased land in W Klickitat. If there are any unsold leases & you would like another member for your group my bro would be interested in joining. He drew the late muzzy deer tag.
