They have leased a lot out. One of my favorite spots too.

My uncle had a late muzzle permit in there a couple years back with good success. I always enjoy hunting that unit still. Tho I'll have to find more areas there now...

They maybe moved the border since you were there last??? It's the river now so some of it is Grayback now. Some is leased, ect. Still land to hunt though.

I guess the question would be which unit, East or West?  I have hunted the West side for the for many years. Yes Hancock owns the land but they allow you to hunt on it.

The West Klickitat unit is going to be hard to find spots to hunt this year. SDS is closing their lands in a lot of areas and also making lands archery only. Kreps have all their lands posted now and leased out to an outfitter.

The SDS thing doesn't make any sense.  SDS land in the west klick is closed during archery almost every year due to fire danger.

They are only allowing archery equipment on some lands during all seasons. Not that its only going to be open during archery season. Basically making it a firearm restriction.

Signs are going up in Snowden and around Spring Creek. Plus a buddy that owns property next to SDS has been told by them.

Sounds like it's time for rifle hunters to buy a crossbow.

I could see them doing that as it's getting populated in those area's.  I'll have to ask some people I know who would be in the know about it.

Keep us posted, I haven't seen anything like that in the valley...yet.

In regards to SDS-Stevenson Land Company lands in West Klickitat.  Yes, Spring Creek and a small % of our Snowden lands are archery only areas. And  the reason being is the increased # of houses in those areas.  Stevenson Land Company, SLC, bought 12,500 acres from the Hancock last year and those lands remain open. 6,000 of those acres are in the Camp7-Dead Canyon area, which is no unauthorized motorized vehicles.
Of the 70,000 acres we own in Klickitat and Skamania Counties most of it is open to the public with restricted vehicle access with the exception of two parcels which are the Winegartner and HWY 141 Units, which are no trespassing without written permission.  Also with Weyerhaeuser leasing 8 different parcels in Klickitat County access to SLC lands may be difficult in some areas.

Did all the leases in the area get bids?  I checked on the last day and many still hadn't, but that was early in the day.

I just found out about the leased land in W Klickitat. If there are any unsold leases & you would like another member for your group my bro would be interested in joining. He drew the late muzzy deer tag.
