How about this one?
-
I would let her get broadside. I am not a huge fan of quartering too shots but they can be done.
-
Tougher shot but at close range very doable.
-
Ide wait for a hopefully better angle. I dont like quartering to shots as well. To risky for me.
-
Heart is covered by the front leg bone (blue line scribbling), but, one completely deflated lung (possibly clip the offside lung also) will result with this shot placement. Clarice Cow would have to be motionless, under 25 yards, and have no idea I was in the state for me to take this shot. That said, I'm probably waiting on this one for a better shot. Such a tight window. Don't forget the ">" when taking any shot on an elk.
-
I wouldn't shoot that angle.. Just me though.

:yeah: What he said......

I could call the shot but I'd get trashed on here :twocents:
-
That's a low percentage shot IMO. For Most shooters that will end in a slow recovery at best and more likely a lost blood trail. :twocents:

Thats a difficult shot past 25 yards, she is quartering toward the camera pretty good. I would wait for a better shot on this one. just my opinion. I would NOT rail someone for taking it.

Then PM me- I'm not here to trash anyone - just to learn -

With that marginal angle & the elk not knowing I even exist I would wait for a better shot to happen as she continues feeding & changing her position.
