Hi there... Is the North River Unit where Rugged Justice was filmed at with those bulls a couple times??
-
Negative. They filmed farther south towards Raymond..i think south of Raymond, if i remember correctly. Not sure what GMU that is.
-
Ok.... What town is north River?? A good unit for elk if Im not selected?
-
Most of the Rugged Justice elk footage was filmed in the Williams Creek unit. North River Unit is a good unit for elk, I know the south & east sides of the unit. Access has become a big issue. Very mixed land ownership with Rayonier leases & private land on the south end. East side off 101 has Rayonier, Hancock & Weyco access gates, with some Weyco leases in the heart of where I hunted elk a few years back. Like most of the area here, the "walls are closing in" on us :(

:yeah: it was around Nemah which is south of South Bend. It's part of Williams creek GMU 673.

I spoke with the Game Warden down in Nemah a few weeks ago. I asked him about the show. He claimed it is 100% scripted and staged for reality TV purposes. Most was filmed off the 2000 and 2200 lines, from what I was told.

So that said when the elk were poached it was done for publicity reasons? :dunno: :yike:
I don't think that can be staged, and if it was someone in WDFW needs fired for it. :twocents:

In reference to your "staged" claim, one of my best friends is a WDFW Sgt from another region, and yet another friend is a more local WDFW Sgt. Combined, both spent many weeks with the crews & were familiar faces on the show. In addition, another hunting friend was in fact part of one of the poaching stories. Though obviously it's TV, and certain things must be "staged" for editing & entertainment purposes, I can assure you the stories are not "100%" staged or scripted.

I got filmed in the Bear River unit, but didn't make the show?

Rackattack, I guess you weren't a "bad" enough dude ? You'll have to try harder next time! :chuckle:

Yeah, I guess I don't have a face meant for reality tv. :chuckle:

Easy Willapa :).... Not all were "bad" just because they put you on tv, wrong place at the wrong time and happened to be around people who make bad choices, wait thats most of western washington during modern firearm :)
And I'm not sure why they referenced nemah so much, there were two scenes on the show that they said were in nemah, but were east of naselle, thought it was interesting.

Exactly how he ended up on there, pretty much wrong place at wrong time....about as straight of arrow as can be. In all, I thought the show was pretty well done. My WDFW friend initially told me they were slated to do 13 episodes this year. Only ended up with 6 I think, disappointing. I met one of the film crews at work one day, they were done filming for the day, didn't get my mug on TV. Maybe next year  NOT

Like I said "from what I was told". I really could careless about the show. I happened to be razor clamming and asked the warden on site about the show. He laughed and told me what I reported in my previous post. I will let all the Hunt Wa know it all's debate the specifics. Again...I could careless.

Since the topic is inherently about the North River Unit, I was curious if anyone knew whether the gates are going to be open this year on the north and east sides? You can PM me if you prefer. Last time I was down there most of the usual gates were open. Thanks in advance.
