Title: Source for targets
Post by: Rich_S on May 21, 2015, 11:13:31 AM: This is likely old news to many of you, but the fellow at my Sportsman's club put me on to a source for targets.

I bought a couple of 3-packs of their 24" cube targets since they are on close out; one pack for my son and one for myself. I have the neighborhood saving plastic grocery bags so's I can stuff them. The club uses the 36" square sacks. I see one of the fellows who commented on their sacks uses waste pallet wrap from a big box store for stuffing - might be a good idea.

The shipping ain't cheap, so I suggest a group buy might bring down the unit cost.

Ive also bought several of thier 2nds for our archery course that are just burlap target faces to go over the compressed straw bails. Owner is a nice lady that bought the company from the previous owner that she worked for. They can be purchased at most sports/archery stores. The seconds i purchased had a burlap seam in the target or some print distortion that made for an imperfect image. I really like my 5 spot bag. I lined the target with old carpet to make the burlap last longer then stuffed with all manner of plastic. Shrink wrap, old shredded blue tarp, plastic bags, and even some styrofoam... Id stick to plastic bags tho the styro started coming appart and now there are BBs all around.

The Texas targets are made from a poly - burlap which won't rot like regular burlap. If you put just non-biodegradable plastic in them, you can leave them out in the weather year round. I would think carpet would mold and rot in a short time.

I wonder what the prices are and whether you can pick them up at the manufacturer? I'm close to Tacoma, although avoid going in there like the plague. Anyway, I've already bought the poly cubes and I think they will last me as long as I need them.

I think at the store they go for $20 ish and I think the seconds were about half that. We hung mine in my brothers wood shed so it stayed pretty dry most of the year and we could still shoot at it. The location is near Portland AVE and SR512 Midland area... She doesnt have regular hours so just call her.

Always better to buy local if you can. I need something I can leave outside. Too old and decrepit to carry sacks out to the back field. :salute:
