Anyone got some insight on what is a good unit to buy a Elk tag for..... Looking to go to idaho next year, wondering if there were some good over the counter tags for big bull, or what units are good draws....

Rifle or Archery?

Don't hunt the selway. Worst place I have hunted yet. Almost killed 2 horses and it is steeper than anything I have seen and burnt to a crisp! Atleast where we went!

Rifle.... my aunt lives in Stanley, but there are too many wolves....

If you are not afraid of flying I would fly into the middle fork (unit 27). I have flown in a few times deer hunting. Have see nice bulls everytime. Usually 4 or 5 6x6's everytime. First time I flew in I saw one big bull that was well over 330 but most of the 6x6's were around 260 - 290. They still have tags left. But i would bet they will be gone by the end of the month. If you decided to fly in let me know. I will tell you what I know about a couple of landing strips.
If you want to know some units to apply for pm me. And I will tell you what I know. Which isn't much. :chuckle: :chuckle:
